although apparently Mike Nelson is fairly moderate to conservative.
Yeah Mike Nelson did the Veggie Tales reboot for a time and the "audio mullet" podcast at the start with Ethan from Babylon Bee/Axe Cop and Doug from Earthworm Jim.

In short, I'm surprised Bill and Kevin haven't screeched at Mike for being a nazi by now but I guess their friendship is that solid.

yeah, from what ive seen of mike, and this isnt a lot, he always came off as being a bit center right. makes me wonder how tv's frank ever worked with him. i made the mistake of following him when i first got a twitter account; that man is one insufferable smug leftist. could explain why they never really worked together after mst3k.

edit: spelling. i cant type anymore.

I knew Mike Nelson and Doug TenNaple worked together in the VeggieTales reboot back almost a decade ago. I'm glad both are still getting work. Doug is underrated with stuff like Earthworm Jim, Neverhood and Catscratch.

Imagine trying to work with.. Patton Oswalt. That MF'er nearly wrecked two of my favorite comedy series (RLM and MST3k, but I don't really think Netflix MST3k counts).

The thing is, RLM still recovered while MST3k is buried like any good IP these days. Ant it's obvious that Patton Oswalt is an absolute unfunny dreck that only normies would find his "jokes" funny.

If you want to see Oswalt shit up a series, check out Caprica. He played an unfunny parody of, I guess, a Bill Oreilly style talk show guy. The series itself was doomed as BSG just is too niche for the budget, but his bit part in that was painful. Oh, and he killed his wife IRL too

So is that the prequel that tried to retcon Cylon motivations into something comprehensible because the Cylon motivations were all over the place in BSG?
Oppenheimer is pretentious art house Oscar bait, so of COURSE Mike and Jay would like it. I'm not a bit surprised that they support the "writers" (if you can call them that) strike.
In fairness, I wouldn't want to be reviewing the Barbie movie or most films that came out this year. A movie made by a movie autist with a massive budget that isn't plugged into the culture war in any way would be less irritating to review.

That said, I really think Nolan is overrated for The Dark Knight, the movie that lets him boss around producers and get away with it. That movie was popular because everyone wanted to see the novelty of Heath Ledger's last performance. Nolan and Goyer just turned in commission-tier work; it gave the producers back then exactly what they asked for and then some, but it wasn't because of an artistic passion or inspiration that made that movie. After that, Nolan has been coasting ever since. That being said, at least he makes movies without an agenda because the subject matter is what fascinates him, which is more than I can say with modern media.

Yes it was the prequel, but it was completely incompressible and overly stylized. Caprica is a bit of a drama series which could've been from anywhere but in the BSG universe. I barely remember anything from it except Eric Stoltz and Meg Tilly playing goofy stuff so unbelievably straight. The 2004 BSG spinoffs, the web series and Caprica are really 'how did this get made' stuff. Sorry to get so off track, but Oswalt to RLM to Caprica hit a tone to me.

This though, Bear McCreary was incredible back then for BSG and Caprica. Then he did the AVGN movie. What a fall.

Honestly, the Nolan dick sucking is becoming very, very tiring. Inception was the only original work of his that I liked. Intersteller is where the fart huffing really became prominent, and Tenant cemented it. I think I fell asleep during it. Oppenheimer is a 3 hour long soliloquy (with a very weirdly place sex scene in the middle of it) about how "NUCLEAR BOMB BAD"

Well i find the Nolan complaining very, very tiring. Congrats on climbing up your own ass either way.

Personally, I do not care for most of Nolan's movies. I said this before about Inception, Tenet and his Batman trilogy and how they are complete shit with the only good things to come out of these were the memes, especially the ones from the /tv/ boards. That said, I still enjoyed Interstellar, Dunkirk and Oppenheimer

im always the odd man out, i like the last two batman movies of his trilogy, especially dark knight rises (which makes me very odd man out) i also didnt like inception, which again makes me odd man out. and i never had any interest in interstellar, which also make me odd man out. i havent seen oppenheimer, but im now about 50/50 on if i would like it or not.

I mean it's fine to say "just not for me" or "not to my tastes." Dunkirk didn't hit with me nor the Prestige at first (though I want to go back and rewatch the latter).

What drives me nuts are people who complain about the movie and/or plot that are either not there - or are there in the movie and they're just ignoring/not paying attention. (@Bush King and I had a whole thing about it once but it was all in good fun) It's certainly exhausting when you have to spend twice the runtime of the movie just trying to get to the point of talking about the same movie.

It's even more annoying when it comes from people bitching about "dumb movies" and how they wish there were smarter films out there. Then TENET (aka "big-budget Primer with a dash of James Bond thrown in") releases and all anybody can complain about is how little they understand it.

Yeah I'm saying it. If you complain about TENET then you've forfeited any right to bitch about shit like Michael Bay's films or the F&F series.
