I enjoy them reading the reviews. Also they inadvertently called out the people in this thread complaining about them liking the Halloween movies. "Why do people take it personal when a reviewer likes something they don't."

I’m ready for the next question though. “Why do reviewers take it personal when their watchers disagree with them?”

Because they're boring while doing it. "It wasn't bad," is the laziest thing a "reviewer" could say. Might as well just not post a video if you have nothing interesting, funny or intelligent to say about a film.

RLM has turned into the Nostalgia Critic these last two years.

It feels like covid broke them. Everything they do is a pale imitation of what it used to be. When was the last classic BOTW episode?

I hope Miss March doesn't skew their opinion of WKUK if they decide to check them out.

Because Miss March looks really fucking stupid.

There's a bit of a difference between Doug Walker offering up a milquetoast opinion and Jay/Mike talking about the process that led to a film becoming underwhelming. Again, it seems that the Halloween HitB was them wanting to like it because it was trying to do something different and then they spent the time examining why it didn't work and why, ultimately, it "wasn't bad."

Which is different from Doug going "I liked the laser sword bits. They were cool." like he's an 3rd grader talking about his favoritest movie.

I don't really see reviewers saying it's a conspiracy or personally insulting fans (or at least the ones who aren't lolcows)? Maybe Ebert when he was feeling spicy?

Reading user reviews AGAIN. This is really starting to wear out its welcome when their videos have already started to feel bloated enough in the last few years.
Creative burnout and a rushed process

Instead of releasing a video a week on YT plus their patreon stuff for years now, they should have released a video a month, or every two weeks at most

The idea jar is empty and the writing is clearly rushed and not as well edited as when they had energy. Middle age hitting them hard

Is that the only criteria for them taking it personally? Is that what I said?

I addressed the idea that people need to be “called out” for not agreeing with them. The entire thing is opinion based including the opinion of their content, they need to get over it.

Nope. It's the things that were being said in the video and what prompted them to make that comment. I'm guessing you didn't watch the video?

If that's how you see it. But they were highlighting a movie that had a differing critic/audience scores and the reviews they picked were meant to showcase what/why people were thinking this.

They posited that people walked into Barbarian thinking it was going to be a Conjuring type movie and were upset either at the marketing they saw about it or the actual film. They then showed reviews as an example while laughing at how badly folks were missing the boat on things.

It doesn't matter. They've hit that AVGN point where they don't have to worry about the content too much because they have enough fanboys who watch/pay them.

It's the same reason they'll probably never work on another feature again. Space Cop wasn't worth the time and hassle when just reading bad user reviews does the trick.

There's also so much old content which still holds up that would still be raking in views. I'd rather watch the comfy Blood Debts or The Jar reviews than the last HitB

I'd love to know how many views the nu-Wars reviews are getting in 2022. My guess is those have not held up as well.

People like TheQuartering and Midnight's Edge will continue on to make the same exact shit about NuWars by 2023 and they will still make less and less views because this all died even before 2019. I swear to god, skeptic commentators refuse to let things go and make this as part of their lives.

ClownfishTV (yeah I know, I know) had a recent video theorizing that some of this is starting to enter an algorithm loop.

Now personally I think everyone is just being a little paranoid about A.I. (not like we're trying to kill all humans or anything) but it would explain some things out there if people are doing less of what they're passionate about and more what the machine/system says they should do to get the clicks.

Midnight's Edge used to be a good channel but they started getting their info from 4Chan "leaks" and ramped up the nitpicky nerd videos and I think the gluttonously overlong livestreams were the nail in the coffin.

I used to like the channel when they did Fantf4stick and Ghostbusters 2016 content, but they have fallen from grace afterwards and have done more of the same cherry-picking Disney shit over and over while adding some schizophrenic conspiracy theories by using leaked 4chan posts as references. I mean, yes I agree that Disney is a terrible company, but the thing is, we fucking get it. One or two videos is enough. I stopped watching by the time they made a rant on Toy Story 4, and that was the video they've legit lost me.

As for TheQuartering, well, every time he speaks, I can automatically think of this song playing in my head:

Hey everyone! Well unfortunately we had to postpone our special guest again. Not a big deal; should be sorted out soon. But in the meantime we've had to re-adjust a bit. So now we're planning to do a Best of the Worst spotlight episode on an Albert Pyun movie soon. If you're unfamiliar, Albert Pyun is a b-movie legend who's not doing well right now:

We did his 90s Captain America movie about 1000 years ago and thought it would be nice to pay tribute to him. Not sure which movie we're doing yet but there's plenty to choose from. In addition to that, we've been doing a lot of pre-planning for a Half in the Bag episode that will be a big ol' story wrap-up for our ongoing Glembeeza storyline. We've had to get lots of new props and there may be another surprise or two. It should be fun. After that, we will hopefully be back on track to shoot a Wheel of the Worst episode, featuring the first appearance of a new and improved wheel! This new one spins for longer than half a second. It's great!

I hope they bring back Macaulay Culkin to piss off the weens in this thread.

I mean they could get someone like Spencer Breslin to be in one of the episodes.
