I honestly think that they're getting ready to retire. They're 41-43 now. They only have a few more years until they hit 50. Do you want to be a 50 year-old guy watching shit films and screaming "AIDS?" Maybe you do. They hid how much they make on Patreon (it's probably a Patreon thing because before they did show how much they made) and last I checked they were pulling almost 50K a month just through that. Then you have YT and merch sales and they have to be pulling in around 75-100K a month. Split between 3 guys that's still a shitload of cash.

Let's say they make $20K a month each after taxes (just a guestimate) that's still about a quarter a million per year. And that's just me low balling it. They probably have at least a million in the bank per guy. How much do you realistically need to retire in Wisconsin?

I don't want to see them retire but it wouldn't surprise me if they're slowly getting ready for it. Shit, leaving the YT channel up would still generate decent income after they close up shop.

It'll be strange when they go. I think RLM is one of the few YouTube channels I have consistently watched other than Rob Ager.

If they are shitter now (I think that is only the case with HITB), then they have held onto an era of quality few others can match. I still rewatch Half in the Bag episodes reviewing films I have never seen.

I sincerely believe RLM would lose nothing if they stuck to Best of the Worst and the occasional Re:View.

The big thing about Josh that stood out to me in the video is how every time Jay made a point he'd just change his stance to act like he was on board with whatever Jay was saying.
Noticed him doing that on BoTW by rephrasing and immediately repeating something that someone else had said.
Which is I guess better than smug Josh during Turtle Dreams.

At heart RLM are temporarily embarrassed filmmakers. I think if they do retire it will be to do low-budget indie horror or other self-aware schlock to get pushed onto streaming.

I understand being burnt out watching every new thing that's out and just wanting to go back and watch old Star Trek and whatever bullshit.

Seriously, some of the best stuff has been them talking about old Star Trek. Well that, and watching Rich and Mike die inside as Picard season 1 and 2 progressed.

It shows how empty the marvel and dc movies are that I can watch their other half in the bag reviews from years back for movies I've already seen, but I don't care to ever see their superhero reviews ever again.

I think what could be a good change of pace for HitB is genre reviews every six months or so. The summer movie catchup they did recently worked, but having the "cheap horror movie" review from fuck you its January to june would be better than just a Black Phone review.

I'm not so sure. They seemed like they were *really* done with making films after Space Cop released.

They don't even seem to even enjoy doing BotW that much anymore, so I can't see them wanting to put in the work it takes to make an actual feature these days. At the same time that might be exactly what they need to do at this point to get passionate about *something* again.

"Wisconsin men aren't allowed to like things I haven't seen but am sure I will dislike because that makes me feel bad!"

This is reddit-tier shit. These hackfrauds aren't bastions of intellect, they make good points from time to time, but their opinions are shit more often than not. What matters is if they make their bad opinions in a way that is entertaining.

No Mr. Anime Avatar, we are free to call them out for being contrarian when we want to.

I was surprised to see this on the federalist...

Which tells me a lot about how i want to bet the RLM review is going to go.

How do you suggest improvement? Most of the naysayers seem to be more upset that their opinions don't mesh anymore.
It's all very simple Mr. Anime Avatar, they do something else. Make weird sketches or talk about movies they're actively passionate about or setup the review like the one they did of Grown Ups 2 or Movie 43.

It's not even that they're "liking the wrong things," it's that even when they do like something their endorsement just comes across as so apathetic. Their Obi-Wan review is a perfect example. "Eh, it's fine, whatever, go see it." If they don't care, why should their audience? Whether they like something or not, passion is always more interesting than apathy, and it's a rare HitB these days that really shows much passion. Even their deliberately terrible sketches have a certain listless feel to them.
