Sorry, I should have clarified.

Arthur might know what the gang should do, but he doesn't know how they should do it. He knows the gang should go somewhere, but he doesn't know how to organize such a thing. Dutch, and Hosea were in charge of that stuff, and once shit hit the fan, well, we all know what happened.
Go to Saint Denis, pay a travel agent 600 bucks for 20 third class ocean liner tickets and fuck off to France or something. That's a lot less complicated than all the shit they tried pulling off after the Valentine Heist.

I'm not disagreeing with any of this. I'm just saying in combination with Arthur's already mentioned flaws, there's a reason he didn't try to do this.

That, and the fact that RDR2 is a fucking prequel to a game that already exists, so everything had to turn to shit in the end regardless.

Yeah, how RDR ended made it a game antithetical to prequels. Especially when they try to dupe new players with Arthur's whole "John got out" thing.

Yeah sorry I'm just playing it for the first time right now and need an outlet to complain about how little sense everything in the story makes.

RDR2 logic:

This particular encounter with Arthur and a Black guy implies that the Wild West is racist. But in RDO, one year before RDR2, has a Black sheriff that provides you missions and a Black, female bounty hunter that can SELL you a bounty hunter license. Can somebody explain that?

That's not the West, but the South. Lemoyne is a stand-in for Louisiana and Saint Denis for New Orleans. Arthur's never been in the South until now, so he has no idea why some well-dressed lispy faggot who looks like he's worth as much as the entire van der Linde gang put together is bowing and scraping to some Yankee cowboy. Of course, once the guy slows down and actually explains things Arthur knows exactly what happened.

I know I should play through RDR2 (and RDR1 by extension) but what reason does Arthur have to be prejudiced? He's an outlaw that's on the run with a broken gang.

This eugenics preacher encounter appears to be comical at best, preachy at worst. I would think that it's 1890s Louisiana, there'd be MORE people like him around the streets.

That's my point. He's not prejudiced and in fact has never seen the kind of prejudice you'd find in the 1890's Deep South. Its why Lenny has to explain things to you while you ride during that one mission.

Everything regarding race is laughable in RDR2
I'm never gonna get over the fact that they cut all the cool Native American stuff because they thought it would be offensive only to just end up doing something actually offensive by segregating all the Natives from the rest of the map, and making them the pawns of white people again.

Him never having seen it personally doesn't make it so that him being seemingly so confused and/or unaware of it make sense, though.

Like, they even make it a point for Dutch to have a hatred for the South. There's no way Arthur doesn't understand "deep south" (lol?) racism.

Yeah, and Arthur finds his obsession with getting back at everyone in Lemoyne for his father dying on the battlefield during the Civil War almost unnerving.

"They killed mah daddy!"
"Dutch, do you have any idea how many daddies we've killed?"

COMMUNITY-INSPIRED OUTFIT Free community-inspired outfit created by YouTuber BiggestRihfan
Outfit 1: - Kennedy Hat - Neck Scarf - Huerta Shirtwaist (Female), Salcedo Shirt (Male) - Leather Gloves - Cabrera Pants - Eufaula Buckled Boots (Female), Tornado Boots (Male)

Outfit 2: - Short Stovepipe Top Hat - Puff Tie - Iniesta Shirtwaist (Female), Corrales Shirt (Male) - Richfield Vest - Leather Gloves - Fitted Pants (Female), Cabrera Pants (Male) - Homestead Boots (Female), Dress Shoes (Male)

Hopefully, this will be enough for me to get the most out of the Moonshiner role. That 8 Gold Bars off for three Moonshiner challenges in a week may be a challenge. I only have one a day, some of them require a bar.

Does snow have an effect with actual gameplay? I don't particularly care about clothing. I know I have a couple free clothing outfits from events; I've just never went out my way to think of it. Hopefully, I have a jacket and a coat I believe. Clothing is more than cosmetic in Red Dead 2, right?

Maybe I'll make another outfit.

It keeps you from freezing to death if you wear enough of it, but that's it.

RDR2 has this stupid thing going on where Arthur talks like he's from the South but is very explicitly not Southern (gets downright offended by the Union holdout thinking that). It also has this stupid thing going on where (though the Klan spawns all over the map) Lemoyne is the designated racist areas for racists although anti-Black racial violence was part and parcel of life everywhere in America.

Basically, it's shit writing by libtards.

But the idea of Black law enforcement in that period isn't unrealistic at all. A ridiculous number of US Marshals were Black. For legal reasons outlaws tended to flee to Indian Territory where only the Marshals could pursue them, and the Five Civilized Tribes had large populations of former slaves that could speak their languages (spoke it as their primary language) but had no loyalty to them, and so the Marshal Service would hire them. Marshals being the FBI before the FBI was created. Bass Reeves was one such that was particularly famous.
