I can understand if you'd have the option to "upgrade" with your PS5. There are still PS4s around.

Speak of the devil, Strauss Zelnick talks about "next-gen backwards compatibility."

Speaking to IGN ahead of the company's Q1 earnings announcement, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that he felt backwards compatibility was "a benefit to consumers." However, he added that he'd "be surprised if platforms didn't offer that with an upgrade that is sort of mid-cycle, however I'm not certain it's a must-have."

Zelnick's response was a curious one - my initial question had mentioned upcoming rumored console upgrades (specifically rumors of a PS5 Pro), but had honed in on asking about a Nintendo Switch successor specifically. So I followed up by asking him if he considered the Nintendo Switch to be "mid-cycle."

So, this is more confirmation that this RDR port is a lazy cash grab. It's one thing to release a port for PS4, but NO option to upgrade as a benefit for PS5 owners shows that this is a hack job.

Again, the Xbox version can run natively at 4K (60fps?) with Xbox Series S|X hardware WITHOUT any developer input. And you can find it for $30. Cheaper even if you look.
 
It's only been a day and half and I am already sick of hearing people whine about the rerelease announcement. I'm even agreeing with the people saying the disappointment people are feeling isn't Rockstars fault. It's not Rockstars fault a bunch of people fell for a bunch speculation and hype. They never said they were going to release a remake or remaster. They never said anything. It was other people that said they would release a remake or remaster. Then you have a bunch of people clickbaiting and hyping up something that was never announced. It's funny how people fall for this and then get mad at everyone but the people that were hyping and clickbaiting. Sure the price sucks. But these people are right. Rockstar never promised shit and they never said shit about a remake or remaster. You can shit on them for the price. But shitting on them for your own self induced disappointment is a bit ridiculous. I understood that when I finally heard the announcement. I was disappointed. But I didn't get mad at Rockstar. People just need to stop falling for the hype and claims with no real evidence. But I know that's never going to happen.

Nah, they're actually pretty pissed about this, and are telling people not to buy it. At least, they were when the news first broke, and now it just appears they've devolved into a shit-flinging fest about the whole thing with one side complaining nonstop, and the other side going "holy shit, just don't buy it".

In other news, some sperg decided to pester Arthur's VA about this as if he has any control over the situation, and this depressing bit of news dropped.

Yeah, they're "pissed off" right now. But the only reason they are pissed off is because they know they're going to fucking buy it.

Anyone who isn't a fucking retard looks at this, fucking laughs, and then goes to play the game on their Xbox, PS3 or emulated on their PC.

The only people who are pissed off are the retards that will end up buying it.

Also Roger Clark better be careful. Talk like that is what got most of the pre-GTA V actors blackballed from Rockstar.

Fifty bucks is way too steep. Thirty I could see, but there is no way in hell I'd shell out that much dosh for a game I've beaten 15 times.

You could save up the skins and furs for crafting special attires from Gus, or use them as materials for the trader role too

That's actually one of the legendary animals I found. Really its just to be sold to Gus and then you can buy the custom outfit piece. For absolute fuckloads of money compared to the pittance he hands you.

Really all of the skins and animal products are largely worthless unless you are turning them into trader supplies. Yes even rare and dangerous shit like bears, cougars, and 'panthers'. Oh and there's a very real chance that another player will shoot you to try to get the skin if its a rare enough one.

I was just playing around with RDR1 in the Xenia and Xenia-canary emulators and it's not that great. It still has issues and doesn't run all that well. I have even tried using RPCS3 and it doesn't run very well either. There are still issues. Screwing around with emulators is pretty niche. The vast majority of the public isn't going to have the patience for that or even know how to do it. They aren't going to sit around and listen to some guy talk about how to get RDR1 running well enough to play in an emulator. Then watch another long video about how to just get the emulator up and running. They are going to take the path of least resistance which is hand over the $50 and get a playable version of the game on a system they own. Even if they wanted to get the 360 version that was rereleased for the Xbox One years back they would need the game and an Xbox system. If you have an Xbox One or Xbox Series system you can get the GOTY version for $30. But if you don't have an Xbox system sitting around it's going to cost your more than $30 or even $50. But if you have a PS4 PS5 or Switch sitting around you can have easy access to RDR1 for $50 and not have to screw around with an emulator. You also need a decent PC to emulate most games well from the 360 and ps3 on up.
