Re-Introducing The ICE Sigil

In 2018, while I was on a 6 week long teaching tour of the US, the sigil that is often referred as the “ICE sigil” was created at The Raven’s Wing Magical Co. in Portland, OR. It was inspired by the first ICE protests which were taking place just a quarter of a mile away from the shop. The initial focus of this sigil was to aid in the protection of those protesting ICE as well as assisting detainees. Since its creation, it has evolved into a go-to sigil for those protesting on behalf of all justice-issues, but I feel it’s important right now to remember its roots.

Today I am bringing the ICE sigil back to the forefront, along with some crucial resources for protecting those who would be targets thanks to systems of injustice, racism, and bigotry. ICE is being used to attack your neighbors and friends, people who upstanding and contributing members of your local community. The propaganda being spread is that ICE is ridding the country of “dangerous illegal aliens” meanwhile many of the people affected by ICE are here in this country legally, and are anything BUT dangerous. It was never about safety or the economy – but instead all about racism and fear.

(If you want to reference ACTUAL dangers to this country, I suggest you look at the January 6th insurrectionists who were just let loose by the current regime. Many of which belong to internationally-recognized hate groups and have standing records of violent crime – from hate crimes and armed assault to domestic abuse. Doesn’t that make you feel oh so much safer? Yeah no. But enough about those assholes, let’s focus on helping people who actually contribute to society…)

Get to know the Sigil:

First, here is a photo from the class whiteboard that shows you the list of what went into the sigil:

What has been built into this sigil:
-prevent arrests
-provide stamina
-good weather for protesters
-that their message be seen, visible, heard, have impact
-resilience for detainees and those in danger
-fuel and sustain hope

The Sigil

What to do with this sigil:

Some suggestions:
  • draw subtly in at-risk locations
  • draw it on the body
  • make it into an amulet
  • use in conjunction with related spellcraft and ritual
  • if you’re marching or staging a protest, use it on your body, signs, route, etc.
You are welcome to use this sigil however you see fit that is in alignment with the intent of the sigil. As long as it’s not used for profit/commercially, you can wear it, share it, draw it in appropriate places, make signs of it, use it for blessings and other forms of protection, and so forth. You don’t have to be physically out there protesting to use this sigil – you can use it to lend support to others and bring more focused energy to the situation, guided towards a positive and powerful solution.

Can't tell if tranny or just manly looking. Yikes.

Also, that sigil is just the "evil eye" motif (as in a thing that supposedly protects against it) with some squiggles added.

Now, I do like the eye motif (more as a reminder that God watches over us, not as a talisman against stuff), but you can't just swipe it from all the cultures that have similar stuff, scribble a few lines, and say "original character art, do not steal".

And If it's supposed to be such a heckin great thing for protecting "vulnerable" people, then your moral duty is to make that free and hand it out at migrant shelters and homeless camps. After all, you say witches are "the most moral, most aware and sensitive people you will ever come across." So why do you charge?

... in order to signify to ICE that there are probably people they should arrest here?
Imagine any underground organisation publishing their postmarking sigils and what they mean in public, where literally anyone can find them

You just don't do that. It's blatantly idiotic.

This means one of three things. From least to most likely:
  1. This woman is secretly a 5d chess anti-immigrant woman, and is wanting to sabotage other projects by using people who align with option 3.
  2. This woman is aware of the risk of publicizing potential postmarking, but genuinely values the credit from being Seen Doing the Right Thing(tm) more than she actually values helping people.
  3. This woman is a completely vapid attention whore and doesn't realise the dumber implications at all.

I didn't know there was a sigil to prevent arrests. I have to ask Romanians about this one. Do we have a sigil for "bountiful copper wire harvest" too?

It's funny how these "modern witches" keep running into the same issue of posturing as these heckin' awesome wholesome chungus progressive allies who want their "positive" magick to help benefit the underprivileged, but then they legally protect their contributions via the current hegemonic power structures and charge monetary fees for their "services."

It's almost as if they're capitalist shithead grifters who are exploiting the gullibility of losers who think they can wave a wand and bippity-boppity-boo goodness into reality. They always have some shop where they sell "magick rocks" for $10 a pop and 10 page books they authored themselves for $40 each, oh and then you can book them for a private energy healing consultation for $150 an hour or a $400 tarot reading. It's literally all about enriching themselves at the expense of the very groups they claim to want to selflessly benefit.

It's still real magick even if it doesn't give the intended result. Even if it backfires.
This bitch makes no sense. She wants to use sigils to manifest changes in reality, but she doesn't believe there's any supernatural forces at work in her magick? So, what's the fucking point? You should vandalize property with her sigil because it... helps you get into the LARPer headspace better? I seriously don't understand how this is supposed to functionally operate, and I say that as someone who believes in the power of sigils. This is dumb as fuck.

Her entire understanding of witchcraft seems to be either completely self-styled or taken from someone else who is self-styled. A hex is the single most difficult operation in witchcraft and not something any learned practitioner would ever prioritize as a first resort when responding to harmful magick. This is like suggesting that if someone is shooting spitballs at you that you should nuke their hometown as a measured response. The suggestion is simply beyond baffling. There's far more appropriate protection magick you'd realistically utilize long before that point.

She's either making shit up as she goes because there's enough retards out there who will believe anything, or she's simply shit at researching these things and passes off her misunderstandings as "expertise."

My favourite part of the kiwi farms is that, no matter how obscure or batshit insane the topic is, someone on the kiwifarms is ready and waiting, primed with an apparently expert knowledge on the subject just so they can call the subject of a thread or article a tard.

And no matter how redundant or outright falsified I believe the topic to be, that person will speak with the tone of a grizzled veteran who's watched a hundred rookies lose fingers to these, apparently, utterly basic stumbling blocks of their obscure career/passion/tism nobody else gives a shit about.
