Also those fetch quest worlds in 2 can suck my balls.
Still better than the sewers in R&C3, completing that took forever because the chargeboots kept getting cancelled by the magnetic walls, and the King Amoeboids wouldn't attack if you came from the wrong direction. It also got REALLY laggy on the PS3 version if you didn't kill every Amoeboid.

I miss the monster encyclopedia from R&C2 though.

The desert level was more memorable than the ice level. Even the developers disliked that level. I'm still watching the commentary; I'll link it when I get to it.

In Ratchet 3, those fetch quest levels were reduced to one. The sewer level, I couldn't finish that as a kid. I hated maze levels.

I remember in Ratchet & Clank 2016, Gaspar was a fetch quest level. You had to collect brains for a scientist. It was more vertical than previous levels; you had to use a jetpack of sorts to go up, down, left and right.

Again, the scientist wouldn't shut up with the cringe jokes so it was a drag to complete.

"It's impossible to say Telepathepus 10 times fast! Telepathepus Telepathepus Telepathepus Telepathepus Telepapeth... See?"
JUST SHUT UP AND LET ME KILL THINGS
"I'm going to take a crack and take it that you're single."

The level was well done, just the extra collect a thon was unnecessary.

Remember that one spherical plant from R&C 3? If you used the charge boots there, you would literally "float" and fly above the level indefinitely. The gravity on that level messed up the functionality of the charge boots. That level wasn't my particular favorite.

I loved Ratchet & Clank's skill point system.

They were basically achievements/trophies in game. Each game had them.

Some of them were quite clever. For example, in R&C 1 on Blackwater City, one of them required that you turn those tanks into a chicken. You'd need the Morph-a-Ray for that.

The Morph-a-Ray was a funny weapon. I think in Up Your Arsenal, if you upgraded it, the chickens would be bigger than Ratchet and then explode. Funny watching chickens roam with enemies around.

They'd also lay explosive eggs that rolled around and blew up enemies in R&C3. The first enemy you morphed would fly around with you and kamikaze-dive into enemies too, it was fantastic. It was also really helpful in the 100-round gladiator match to help conserve ammo.

Spyro had those as well. I had lots of fun getting them in the Reignited Trilogy.

Underrated feature. From planet to planet, every enemy was unique. Moreso in Going Commando than any other Ratchet & Clank game.
Yup, the enemy variety was awesome, and the little descriptions about each enemy made the game world feel that much more alive. I've probably gone through R&C3 like 30 times by now (my old PS2 memory card had a 10x New Game Plus save file on it and then the disc stopped working), so I should probably go play R&C2 some more. Time to dig out my PS3, and hopefully R&C2 HD supports the DS4 controller, because I can't go back to the DS3, it just feels crap in comparison.

Looks interesting but I have no faith since the remake was such a piece of shit. I want to be wrong though.
/v/ stressing the important stuff as usual

Thanks for linking the reveal trailer.

I was excited when I saw Ratchet & Clank again when watching it. It looks like it's a whole new adventure.

It looks like the premise will be dimensional rifts in real time. Going from world to world seamlessly as it's breaking in front of you. This looks like the only next gen PS5 title from that whole reveal.

The female Lombax looked interesting. Although we had one with Angela Cross with Going Commando, are we going to have her established in canon again?

Ratchet looks furrier than before. Clank looks the same. The sandsharks shown look like R&C 2016 assets.

They changed the logo too.

I'm happy they're not going the R&C 2016 route so far. Although, Clank talks a lot from that alone.

The dragon looked cool.
