She's effectively Ratchet's actual co-hort at this point and not Clank. The Knuckles to Ratchet's Sonic. The last time this happened was with Krystal and Star Fox.
I had thought the same thing about Talywyn and Angela. Two female characters that have been abandoned for whatever reason.

Here's the problem now that all future installments will have, how the fuck can they fit Rivet into the next game?

Attempt at coop play again but with more true to form gameplay than all 4 one and full frontal assault I get I'm in the minority of people who enjoyed all 4 one

All 4 one was alright, it is an enjoyable spin off, full frontal assault is shit tho and has even worse humor than the 2016 remake

Damn, I know people are probably already aware; but Jim Ward doesn't voice Qwark in the newest game. I noticed it as soon as I heard him talk in the game. Turns out the reason why is because of Alzheimer's AND a severe case of Covid. Shit fucking sucks, especially considering he's only 62 and he would have been totally down for it, considering he's been there since the very beginning alongside Clank's VA, David Kaye.

This is the biggest over reaction I've seen over game graphics, and doesnt really seem to take much from the game.
I like interaction of plants as much as the next guy, but some people there seem to believe that it is easy to implement or that it doesnt tax the system resources, physics on something that most people wont pay much attention would be just using cpu for not much gain, espeically in a game that most likely uses them to be able to have the 60 fps rt option

I’ve been playing Rift Apart and I’ve been enjoying it, I’ll build up lists of what I enjoy and dislike about it in bit.

Yeah, it honestly sucks to hear that he was basically forced to retire because of that. And despite all of the shit the remake and the film gets you can really tell Ward gave it his all for those entries in the series, it‘s one of the few things that’s actually a positive for me.

Hey look who's back. For those who don't remember, Mike and Tony are two devs who both worked on and did commentary for R&C2 and R&C3 years ago. I'm not gonna watch it yet as I still want to remain somewhat spoiler free for now in the offchance I actually do play it soon, but watching two old pros giving their thoughts on the latest addition to the franchise should be fun.

Yeah I liked her too, she is tomboyish but she isn't a "strong woman" stereotype, you know the one, is angry at everyone, needlessly antagonistic to the old cast for no reason, a complete asshole that we are supposed to lovejust because she is a woman

Yup, they did good with those two. You can tell the plot is a bit rushed at points though, but otherwise they did well. Also thanks for those two videos, didn't know those guys did stuff, though I do recall their existences from the Insomniac Museum in Going Commando, I think. So, that'll be cool to listen to.

I'm surprised how much I ended up liking the writing of Rift Apart. Rivet feels like she's been there all along, same for Kit. Hopefully they become mainstays.
She's designed to be alternate universe Ratchet. So, that makes sense that you'd feel that way about her.

In fact I think in her reality Lombax tail dimorphism is the opposite to Ratchet's, but that's not confirmed. It could easily be they decided girls should have tails too or completely forgot their lore.

Is the performance for Rift Apart legitimate or just marketing? I think it has a performance mode and a graphics option.

One thing I appreciate about Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked is that they gave you a "downtime" planet as a hub of sorts between missions. Up Your Arsenal had the Starship Phoenix and Deadlocked had Dreadzone Station. Moreover, the Starship had activities within the planet. Video games, VR training for weapons, armor vendors, even just causal banter between the crew.

And that killer soundtrack.

I do not think that sorta thing came back in later entries. I'm aware of the Insomniac Museum but that was more of a "secret" than anything official to unwind to.

The ”downtime“ planets were kind of done away with in the PS3 era, the closest you get to ‘em are the battle arena planets (ACiT’s Agorian Battleplex, ItN’s Destructapalooza, and RA‘s Zurkie’s with an honorable mention to TOD’s Imperial Fight Festival) that give you a decent source of bolts and some time to decompress after dealing with levels.

The techno soundtrack, on the other hand, is something that‘s definitely disappeared from the series at around the same time (and even firmly confirmed when people asked Insomniac Games about when the R&C 1 remake was in development) and replaced with a more cinematic one. That said, RA’s soundtrack is the closest you’ll probably get to having the same “feel” as the original PS2 soundtracks.

The opening level music to Tools of Destruction is quite top notch. Better than all of R&C 2016 soundtrack.

It set the stage for next generation Ratchet & Clank beautifully. Like you're going on an adventure like never before. I can immediately recognize it. However, I noticed that music plays in each cutscene like a movie.

Few things I learned about R&C 3:

It was rushed. That's an understatement. Insomniac and Sony was ambitious with the third game with scope and features. Enough to have 70 hours work weeks with crunch. And features were still cut.

Sony pushed for multiplayer. One week before Halo 2's multiplayer. That explains the battle arena theme levels.

The trilogy could be argued to be a character arc for Captain Qwark moreso than about Ratchet & Clank.

The Qwark vid-comics were Mega Man inspired for variety. And meant to be harder and bigger, but testing found them "unfun."
