I like to believe that people wouldn't be stupid enough to put their don't click folder on the same thumb drive that they carry company sensitive documents on, but you can never be sure about that because lots of people who collect CP do handle it that stupidly. What I find more suspicious is that someone found his child porn thumb drive and has just been sitting on it for the past 5 years until they have a chance to drop it at the same time as an unrelated lawsuit. Regardless of whether it's real or not it's incredibly spiteful.
 
If it was reported before he was subpoenaed, that usb (and any of his PCs) are long gone. I doubt he would have been pursued too hard, as it's just some nutjob making claims.

(Fuck Randy in general though.)

Why do this though? BL2 already has so many DLCs and content that Pre-sequel undersold and had its DLC plans abandoned. The only way I see it working is if Gearbox already has Borderlands 3 in the works and the old game DLC, free update or expansion ties the plot of old and new games, and teases some new features - this could also allow to experiment with gimmicks and features the dev team isn't sure about introducing to a sequel, then expanding them further in full game if they're a success. But I'm afraid Randy wouldn't think up of anything like it and it's just a last ditch attempt at earning a buck maybe?

Because they are a dying company. They’re desperate to remain relevant. Both their most recent games that weren’t re-releases (Battleborn and We Happy Few ) were bombs and basically dead on arrival , albeit for different reasons ( Battleborn: because of overwatch , and We Happy Few: because people heard about how game breakingly buggy it was BEFORE its release date)

They currently only have THREE games in their pipeline right now, all sequels, with no set release date. I will legitimately be surprised if all three games get finished before the company shuts its doors for good.

Yeah there will be a trainwreck either way, the question is who will be tied to the tracks.

My money is on both. Gearbox is just that tarded of a company IMO, it already had two lolcows work within it (Randy and Beta Burch), so why not a third?

This right here is a problem. That whole industry/social circle is just fucking sociopathic and fucktarded enough for this to be the godbear honest truth. Literally any allegation could come out about these fucking people and it would be entirely believable to such cynical chucklebros like us.

Somebody could come out and allege that Anthony Burch stuffed a plucked (yet still living) pheasant up his shithole and had fat women beat his manlet nutsack with croquet mallets while soundbytes from news footage of 9/11 play on an antique gramaphone operated by a midget wearing nothing but a ushanka hat and a muumuu and our first reaction would be "so do we think this happened before or after he was fired from gearbox?"

So, why didn't anyone get tipped off by his pedophilia? He posed as a magician for years. I mean, he literally screamed "I'M LIKELY A PEDOPHILE" for like, years. The "Magic" in DuvalMagic was there for a reason.

(If you wanna look more into the fix, there's actually TWO lines of code that totally fix the AI, but I don't see any videos up for that mod. But it's on moddb.)

The relevant law is PENAL § 43.26. Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography of the Texas Penal Code. It's not clear on the issue of possessing child pornography as evidence of a crime. While he technically did break the law by knowingly possessing it and not immediately submitting it to authorities or destroying it, that probably wouldn't stand up in court unless there's evidence that the reason he kept it was for his own spank bank.

The biggest issue with the CP allegations though is that it has no place in this lawsuit. That's a case that belongs in criminal court. Callender has absolutely no claim to punitive damages from it, and the only reason it's even included in the case is to smear Pitchford.
 
Absolutely staggered that the private sector continues to make itself look less and less appealing every day. Maybe keep the kiddie porn blackmail a secret if you aren't going to be taking it to the authorities within the business day.

Motivation is completely irrelevant. "Possession" of contraband, such as drugs or CP, for any legal purpose is simply maintaining ownership of it after becoming aware of its nature, or while willfully blind to its nature (for instance if you agree to transport a mysterious bag for a large payment and do not look in it but it is drugs and you should have known that).
