The art style looks like dogshit tbh. The models do not look like they are made to compliment the style they were going for and instead it looks like they added the cartoon border around everything because everything looked like fucking shit and they could deflect criticism by saying it's all part of their 'artstyle'. Just go back to the first and second game and look at the models and textures. They are bad even for the era.

Yeah they shifted to cell-shaded style late in development.
In the first Borderlands trailer there is none of it:

Pitchford's public statements about religion are few and far between. In April 2017, Pitchford replied to a picture of a hotel Gideon Bible on Twitter, saying, "It's fun to just toss it out into the hall with a towel or something—like what you do with the dirty room-service dishes." Two years before that, he used Twitter to alert a colleague about their appearance on Reddit's "atheism" sub-site, but that vague, confusing tweet may be a joking reference to another thread that has since been deleted. (That 2015 tweet tags an artist who has poked fun at atheists, so the tweet may not be indicative of Pitchford's religious views.)

Hey, dunno if any of this was mentioned already, but you guys should probably check into the small clique of buddies Randy-Bobandy has under himself in Gearbox; awhile back him and his wife had a podcast for her gamer themed cafes called Nerdvana, which you could call in and talk to various Gearbox-related people, including Randy himself. It was a good time. I do remember that out of all of the people surrounding that gang of people, the one that was the easiest to get really salty was Melendez, who was an occasional co-host and chat moderator. They had a discord at one point with most of the Gearbox people, but I was banned back in the stone age after being an epic gamer -- was a shame, because some of the insane beta orbiting there was 10/10 and I wish I had capped it. But, the podcast has some pretty funny moments from trolls and other fuckers being retarded. Basically, most of the Gearbox people are easily messed with outside of Twitter in my experience.

 
Let's not forget that one time that Gearbox tried to run a Fig campaign for Starflight 3 that crashed and burned. They even went as far as randomly emailing people (random as far as I can tell since I'm not subscribed to anything of theirs or 2K's) to beg them to donate.

Randy even tried to spice up the campaign page with "If Starflight didn't exist then Gearbox wouldn't exist". Takes 15 seconds to do a quick google search to see that Gearbox had zero involvement with the franchise up until 3. I have a feeling that most of this money would have led to a BL3 announcement. If this campaign didn't flop.

Interesting that despite the HUGE importance of this franchise being as it is Randy doesn't list it on his twitter but he thinks that Duke or Homeworld are worth mentioning.

Gearbox has minimal involvement with Homeworld, so it's rich of Randy to be claiming credit for that franchise. They are the latest company to own the publishing the rights to the IP, but the actual Homeworld titles under Gearbox are entirely developed by a third party studio comprised of the original Homeworld devs.

It's not likely, it's certain. The graphics dudes were fighting to switch to a new graphical style while the higher ups(Raaandy) didn't want to hear anything about it, I think they worked extra hours to put together a small demo with the new style and only then did the higher ups realize that the people making graphics might have a point about how the graphics should look.

Looking at the original trailer below shows what Pitchford & Co. originally had in mind.

I know Randy specifically said the art change was his idea. He said he showed it to his daughter who said it looked boring so he had the team re do the whole style. After the valve thing it's almost certainly a lie, but I thought it was worth bringing up.
 
Good to know Randy runs his games by his kids. I'm sure as an artist at Gearbox you'd be happy to hear that.

As heavy as the CP allegations are, I find it difficult to put something even that despicable past Randy Pitchford, if only because the guy is not only a proven liar and shyster, Randy has been and continues to be such a constant fucking weirdo on social media and in his public appearances.

That's not even referring to his performative wokeness that "allies who get exposed as creepers" like him turn out to be. Putting all of what he's done (and yet to be revealed) into perspective: Between going onstage to sing about some random trolls to an audience that couldn't seem to give even half a fuck to hopping on a podcast and casually describing the details of the USB stick ("it's not THAT creepy!") that's a part of the CP allegations one day the suit with said allegations was filed, I'm fairly certain Randy qualifies as a mutant instead of a human.

No normal guy, much less the CEO of a company behaves like this so consistently.

Randy always comes off like he's trying to be the "quirky uncle" that people find charming, but at the rate this shitstorm is going, he's instead going to be the "creepy uncle" everyone tries to avoid eye contact with.

One would normally question themselves what would make this game stand out among other titles, instead of putting that control in the hands of a kid.

Unless his child was the target audience.

But in the end, Borderlands certainly did stand out thanks to his kid. Instead of looking like most games with their shit murky dirt look over everything, it was improved to just look like a game with a shit murky dirt look that is slightly brighter.
 
Okay, I'm convinced, Randy Pitchford IS Handsome Jack:

Sociopathic belief he's always in the right? Check.
His few good decisions were made at the expense of other people? Check.
Rewards loyalty by shitting on those who gave it in the most asshole manner possible? Check.
Has a creepy level of involvement concerning his kids in his grand designs? Check.
Despite being the villain he believes he's the hero? Check.
Takes being a corrupt CEO to a whole new level? Check.
Supreme arrogance concerning his own genius compared to others. Check.

All he needs now is his own "Butt Stallion".

If "Butt Stallion" is going to be a physical representation of his vanity and opulence, you could probably call his mansion (with an alleged stage room where he puts on his own magic shows for his house guests) his "Butt Stallion".
