Yeah, they're not going to cast a trans actor for the role because Hollywood wants A-list actors.
 
If these twats didn't lose their shit then they'd get a good film made. I don't remember people losing their shit when Hilary Swank was in Boys Don't Cry. Anyway- these assholes can't get it through their thick heads that non-trans people are cast because there are no A-list trans actors aside from Laverne Cox. Casting a trans nobody actor won't get the money they need to get success on a Hollywood film.

not only that, but you're not going to find an out trans actor who hasn't undergone SRS/HRT at the very least; transsexuals in society don't want to be pre everything and working in a field like acting, I know I sure don't.
They threw the same kinda shitfit when Eddie Redmayne got cast as that trans woman in a period piece(meaning that the character never once gets or hormones or SRS), but if they cast an actual trans actress she'd have to go off hormones, wear a fake penis, or be pre everything. However, the trans actresses who are apparently available for such a role according to Tumblr would be post everything bc like it or not, part of being transsexual is actually trying to pass as the other sex in every possible field.

The Danish Girl was based on a real woman who dies getting the first SRS, and of course the movie ends with her dying. HRT wasn't a thing in the 20's though.

However if people want to watch movies with trans characters being played by trans actor why don't they watch indie and foreign movies instead of being hand fed by Hollywood. The is a huge genre of LGBT movies in the indie scene.
 
I don't even know the story of the movie, but I'm guessing at the beginning of it ScarJo would have been passing less as the opposite gender. If a trans actor was forced to pretend to be their gender assigned at birth, wouldn't that make them dysphoric? :thinking:

Yeah it's not uncommon for Hollywood movies to force the lead actor to alter their body for the sake of the movie. Like having the weight of anorexic, an insane amount of muscle mass, or becoming obese. Making a trans person go off their HRT and present as their birth gender for the sake of a movie would be cruel and psychologically damaging. They didn't even have Laverne Cox play the role of as her character's pre-transitioned self on Orange is the New Black, that role was played by her twin brother.

A trans man would be especially tricky as they don't look like women after years of HRT. Even when they stop treatment.

The Danish Woman.
The main character never went on hormones, but she does in fact go on SRS. She was one of the first, if not -the- first to do so. Of course she dies from complications.

For people who want more trans movie coverage they sure fuck it up whenever one tries to get made.
And I thought the person this movie is about was a butch lesbian and not trans.
