It actually seems to be part of the whole, "a trans woman wasn't ever male, she's always been female even if her body was at once male, don't ever say she was ever male" (or vice versa) thing. I was curious, and watched the video that explained it. Basically trying to get extra snowflake points and maybe some bonus ~I always knew I was a girl even as a toddler~ smug points.
There's a few trans people in the comments of the youtube video who pointing out how stupid this thought process is, and that it makes all trans people look bad, but for the most part there's just people agreeing. I can only assume the ones that disagree are actually trans, while the ones that agree are transtrenders.
