I've heard that Tolkien's dwarves are actually based on Jews though, which if true puts it in the same sort of area as the Superman one, where they're not really Jewish, but you can argue for a link to Judaism.

LotR dwarves are partially based off Jews.

Tolkien's dwarves are based on Jewish culture, but it's still kinda bizarre to headcanon Gimli as Jewish when he lives in a world where there's no Christianity/Judaism/etc. They have their own religions. (Did Christ occur in Middle Earth then?)

I dunno it's kinda like making Fluttershy a Muslim in My Little Pony fanart (or any other LOTR character a Christian/Jew/Muslim). It's just bizarre and something that's odd fitting in their world. Unless these are set in real life modern AUs or the fantasy religions take elements of real life ones? I doubt it but

also Legolas/Gimli? I thought yaoi fangirls were into the slash only if it had hot young men, lol
