Oh jeez...
people like this deserve to be slammed into a locker

okay but who's more annoying: people who always reference fantasy novels in real life politics discussions, or people who always shoehorn 1984 quotes into real life politics discussions?

Upon seeing this post I thought, haha, that's funny, guess I'll reblog.

And then I scrolled down.

Romanian isn't based on your feelings, as well as the other latin languages. And also, it wouldn't make sense if it was "gender neutral". It is its structure.
Dumbass.

And also, I do not understand the whole pronoun thing? "I, you" are gender neutral, and "he, she" is used when the respective person is not there.

He and she are gendered, I mean my god you’re forcibly describing the other’s gender as either boy or girl when they’re really autigender and use aerself pronouns. Ae will have a nervous breakdown if aer pronouns aren’t used correctly by random people on the internet, don’t you see how important this is?

Or in normal speak: It’s :autism:, it’s :autism: all the way down.

The pronoun thing may refer to when you present someone to your group of friends? "Here's X, I met him/her at this event" and such.
If anything, it would be more accurate to look at adjectives. In languages such as French or Italian, you have to make an adjective agree with its noun/pronoun. If you're a girl and you say for example "I'm nervous about this presentation", you'd have to use the feminine form of "nervous". Difficulty arises when you're talking with a troon/non-binary individual; even just saying "you weren't attentive in class today"requires you to think about which gender you'll use for the word "attentive". Most unsure people would tiptoe around the formulation and say something like "you weren't listening in class". I also keep hearing about people who want to make adjectives and even pronouns neutral by combining the two forms and fuck it's so off-putting. You can't change the entire structure of a language just to suit your feelings.

Anyway, sorry for the language sperging, have another smoll lesbean:

*obligtory "long time lurker, first time poster" sperg*

I'm so glad that there's people on Tumblr brave enough to tell me that my makeup-wearing friends have actually been racist this entire time.

wearing makeup supports racism i guess.png

I get that makeup standards can be pretty fucked but I doubt every woman who wears makeup is "upholding the idea of whiteness as the ideal".

Tumblr has literally never had a good take on makeup. The thing in 2013-2014 was 'weaponized femininity', which was posts like 'eyeliner sharp enough to kill a man!! red lipstick to destroy the patriarchy!!' and even more bad than that, and posts like that are in a way a backlash to weaponized femininity.

there's a lot of posts by women who want to stop wearing makeup bc they think it supports the patriarchy, which fine, not a new take, but then they spend so much time absolutely handwringingly anxious about going outside without makeup. i saw an article on another site by a woman who tried to stop wearing makeup, went down to the shops, and couldn't even make it all the way before she had to go home to apply mascara. i absolutely do not understand this. you can't even see your own face without looking in a mirror! unless you got mauled by a badger/have the worst cystic acne known to mankind, there should be nothing scary about being in public without makeup.

also, am curious about hair extensions. are they trendy now? don't plenty of black women get braids/natural hair weaves put in? also, 'ethnic hair': say black if you mean black. the majority of women of color have hair from 1a to 2c (this means straight/wavy), since the majority of women of color are asian.

I don't think high cheekbones and a thin nose is a white only thing..... those are pretty common features in Native Americans, and even East African people.

These idiots always forget about Natives unless forcibly reminded, say with someone wearing a feather headdress or something.

the more reasonable criticism of contouring is that its current prominence comes from drag makeup, aka men trying to hide their masculine features and look good in stage lighting, and it's really heavy on regular women. anyway what's everyone think the odds of glueing down brows and drawing over them becoming trendy are?

So if makeup is too “white”, what would be the correct “black” beauty standards? Are you implying that they need to “go back to Africa”, here?
For instance, those native groups from Africa whose women place an increasing number of rings around their neck throughout their lives, to the point that they can never take them off without their neck caving in. Is that “black” enough for you?

I’ve never understood this sort of thing... if I feel too tired or lazy I just skip putting it on, and the world continues to rotate counterclockwise in its billion year-old orbit.

the natives are only exploitable when it profits them in making them feel good and have enough social crusader points to be in the kool kids klub
i wish they would just talk about how beauty standards affect black women, since it usually seems like that's what they want to do but they feel like they gotta be inclusive. i want to be annoyed at it, but it's also hard to be when i know it's because leftist politics demands you include everyone even if their issues really don't have a lot to do with yours.

i'm not tired or lazy, i just rarely want to wear makeup because i don't care, and it continually strikes me as odd how tumblr--although this is more of a xojane/jezebel take--thinks that not wearing makeup is a super brave and crazy thing that only women with the most perfect skin ever can do. on tumblr this is more weird because they're like 'yeah! being gender non conforming!' and then you get other people talking about how even being very slightly gender non conforming by not going out w a full face of slap is super hard for them.

This may be getting a little :offtopic: but I’ve seen people feel the need to put it on for the tiniest things they leave the house for, even though no one else would ever notice or care. Seems to be a self-esteem issue if anything, and I think tumblr users are just making mountains out of their personal molehills again.
Makeup is really just one of those common tools that ends up being a psychological crutch for some people.

yeah
honestly i wish we had a thread for like, jezebel/xojane/refinery29, like the kind of websites that cater primarily to insecure 27 year old straight white women who love modcloth.
