Okay, I looked this up, and at the time, they thought it was food poisoning. It just turned out to be colitis.

And for some reason Chris was denying she had AIDS. I assume trolls were involved with that.
I always like the vague references to Barb having briefly having had breast cancer. Which Chris seems to throw out there like she had the flu once.
"Yeah, mother had breast cancer one weekend. Really scary, I'm just glad I found the lump in time.."

He could've had Chris go to a special school where he could learn to deal with life better.
The other critiques of Bob aside, I dispute this one.

Chris going to a special school or not was a legitimate parental choice. There's valid reasons on both sides why a parent might send their kid to one. It's not like it was objectively the right choice and Bob failed to pick it through some character fault of his.

Most special ed programs are just tax-funded quarantine zones for tardpoles and downlings. They're just a way of keeping mental defectives from bothering humans. Chris was high functioning enough to be mainstreamed and by all accounts did fine in that environment. People who think Borb failed him by not dumping him in with the slow-in-the-minds are dumb as shit. At the very least, mainstreaming Chris gave him some approximation of a social life.

A para-educator might've been a help but I seriously doubt special ed would've done much.

Yeah, well, and he went to autism classes while he was mainstreamed too.

Chris was failed after he left school, because he was permitted to live an idle, lazy life.

This is a exactly the thing, all of these manauvers weren't meant to screw Chris over for laughs, they thought they were doing the right thing. And who knows, with a different kid with a different personality they might've worked. We can't discount Chris's personality in all this.

And I can't stress this enough to the younger people here: shit was different in the 80s. Mental health reforms were still slowly being implemented. Depending on how bad Chris's behavior was(it sounds pretty bad given he was kicked out of several programs as a child) it's entirely possible that the only other option being floated to the chandlers was institutionalization. Most people's first introduction to autism was friggin Rainman back then.

Was Chris really "kicked out" of those programs or did Borb just pull him out because they didn't want to get called in every time Chris had a meltdown?
Well he was deffinetly kicked out of the cub scouts, and I'm really curious about the rest, i.e. "Held me down and recorded my screams" incident.

My money is on Chris being a biter. Haha actually didn't he even make reference to biting kids or am I thinking of a different cow?

IIRC, there was a website or ad campaign called "Barbara Chandler Has AIDS" after the colitis thing. I think it raised some money for charity.

No, he was failed because he barely has 2 brain cells to rub together. That's like saying he didn't win the Bowsette drawing contest because he wasn't given enough encouragement and fake votes by Kiwi Farms. Or that he doesn't have a boyfriend free girl or girlfriend free boy because no one is willing to take one for the team.
