I want you to take a very good look at this image, as it contains proof of how broken YouTube's copyright is and the full extent of it. If you remember correctly, this was one of the videos that was removed by Viacom and disputed. Because they did nothing to fight back against it, the claims were released. Sometime later, this video once again gets copyright ID matched. Not from Viacom, who essentially agreed that this was fair use, but by Viacom_Vobile and BBTV_Viacom.
So tell me Google, is Viacom just getting ad revenue off of this video twice now. Or is it the same ad revenue just split between Viacom and Viacom. I understand that certain companies have different "regions" as I've frequently gotten tagged by TBS of Latin America and Asia. Actually no I don't. For all intents and purposes these are of the same country and they own the same assets. They shouldn't be able to claim these things twice, and that's giving them the best benefit of the doubt. Hell knows what BBTV and Vobile means. Then again, I have been claimed by random letters, so...
And yes, these random other Viacom branches do reject disputes (thankfully they don't block the video at least). The sad part is, I don't think this is an oversight. It seems like an intentional function of the system. When a company is too lazy or whatever to actually keep track of the videos that they take down, Google is ready and willing to give them a second chance to claim ad revenue off of these things. I can see that Viacom is playing this game very well. When you can't get a video removed, claim it again and start getting ad revenue off of it. I also think that there's no better time to take on the YouTube Copyright school.,.. this Monday.
