Started reading the manga because of all the meme posts here. It's decent, has typical weeb story twists, but not to the point of being edgy. Seems like a good kids' manga honestly. Really wanna watch the movie now. I think the reason she's waifu-able is because the movie was meme'd on and the manga itself isn't something to write home about.

She also wears really fashionable 90s outfits at times which is pretty fun compared to skintight robo suits.

I watched a review by some autists about the whole manga series and it sounds like it has quiet a bit of depth, probably too much and still not enough for me to get into this jap animation crap.

The movie covers the first two manga issues I think. These were my least favorite sections of the manga tbh. I really liked the later issues. The ending to the original series was hated, and so the author improved and used it to make a new series. I think it is called First Order or the Mars chronicles. There is also an anime OVA.
