Slurmcore came about from this edit of The Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" called Mmmm Slurms, originally posted to tumblr or soundcloud, here it is on youtube with a dancing john lennon gif:

the original idea as I understand it was to shorten the song while preserving the tonal integrity by just cutting out fractions of every beat instead of the usual chipmunk/nightcore "just speed it up" approach, but a few months ago I guess it really picked up as a meme in some circles, and they've been iterating on it pretty rapidly.

I think Meshuggah sounds to me like what metal generally sounds to people who don't like it. It's just annoying noise with nothing that makes metal listenable to me. Also I want nu-metal back. :(

(Had to upload this as NFL is being a homo and blocking it from being hotlinked from 'Tube)

Sounds like the opinion of a RYM /mu/ faggot. Ignored, also no PreserveTube lmao.

You're both allowed to be wrong.

Here is Death.fm (demo band of Fleshwater, spinoff of vein.fm) from 2016. This is a prototype of Woohoo.

Woohoo (2022)

They're the only modern rock/hardcore/metal? Band I listen to a lot. They understand the era they work with compared to most new bands trying to recapture the 90s sound. They're influenced by Dillinger Escape Plan and other old goodies. Not nu metal but they definitely have the late 90s and 2000s spirit.

One of my favorite aspects to the group are their short minute long songs, they contain so much of the bands talents within them.
Untitled (20 Seconds 20 Hours) from 2018

Standalone (we're not here to be loved live song in studio form) from 2024

What I love about their work is how their albums are very relistenable because their songs properly bleed into each other and it makes me want to pick up a CD of Vein and Fleshwater to properly experience the seamless transitions. Their drummer was also really fucking talented but he left around 2022 or 2023 to recover from alcoholism. Fleshwater eclipsed Vein in popularity because it's more digestible to the masses, but if you give Vein a chance despite the screams there's a lot of great composition in there. I also recommend Botch and Dillinger if you love vein's sound.
