Last picture taken onbord Air New Zealand Flight 901 before it hit Mount Erebus, in Antarctica, on 28 November 1979.

257 people died that day - including the individual who took this picture.

Film was retrieved from the wreckage later on.
This short video was filmed minutes before impact.

The recovery effort of Flight 901 was called Operation Overdue. TVNZ did a documentary called: Erebus: "Operation Overdue" that I highly recommend.

A truly awful disaster, that never should have happened.
