Be careful with this stuff. Bernays wrote his book "The Engineering of Consent" in 1955 and they've hardly had to change their tactics yet. You mess with procedural outcomes by whatever means lets you claim the popularity of something that you want people to accept, then the very notion that it's popular, even if it isn't outside artificial conditions, nudges the uncritical public, especially women, to be more comfortable with whatever is being pushed.
