Not really early on. You would need to dump most of your points into sneak and you don't really have access to stealth boys at that point.

Quarry Junction and Red Rock Canyon - 3 out of 10. Full of deathclaws and cazadores and my frame rate drops to flip book levels. Would not recommend.

You get a stealth boy from killing the Powder Ganger guy in Goodsprings actually. Once you get past the quarry and away from the Deathclaws everything else is super easy from what I recall.

I never got very far trying on PS3. I would always get my anus obliterated by a cazadore. When I got it for PC, I used the roleplay alternative start mod. It would put you at a location based on the occupation you choose. Which is really nice if you hated starting a Goodsprings.
