That's a myth due the fact that when Nintendo ported Ocarina of Time to newer consoles they mirrored the entire world.

You’re thinking Twilight Princess, and that was only for the Wii version and Hero Mode for the WiiU version (the former due to having motion controls and the later in reference to the former).

Link is also right-handed in Skyward Sword for the same reason as the Wii version of Twilight Princess; as well as in both Switch titles, which is something I never noticed until today.
