I don't get why people think The Passion is anti-Semitic. It made me hate the Roman soldiers, if anyone. The soldiers who whip Jesus sadistically enjoy it, while Pilate and his underlings watch with bureaucratic indifference.
And there are characters who are sympathetic Jews:
- Mary (whose actress, Maia Morgenstern, is Jewish), Mary Magdalene, and John the Apostle
- Dissenting members of the Sanhedrin who denounce Jesus' questioning by the high priest as madness
- Simon of Cyrene, who helped Jesus carry the cross (and receives a disparaging "Jew" comment from a Roman soldier).
