Is it because the NASCAR licensing is THAT expensive, or is it part of Ubisoft's desperation due to their financial woes?
NASCAR can be pretty stingy, so I wouldn't rule out them charging Ubisoft a arm and a leg for licensing, but I have a schizo theory:
The Cup Cars in Motorfest are, in fact, just reused models from NASCAR 25. Now I have no hard proof of this, outside of one small detail, all the schemes in Motorfest are the base schemes from NASCAR 25, every single one except for the #45. In NASCAR 25, the #45 only had a single skin present for it and that was this car.

A Jordan sponsored car, this scheme being replaced with the Xfinity scheme in Motorfest is very interesting, because Xfinity is a partner with NASCAR. Xfinity is up there with Goodyear, Sunoco, Coca Cola, and Busch Beer as the key partners with NASCAR. I don't know what the NASCAR deal looks like for Motorfest, but it may have included use of the Xfinity branding in regards to NASCAR, and Motorfest almost certainly didn't want to shell out for the rights to license Air Jordans for a single car. The cars are also all from the 2025 season, which is the exact Season NASCAR 25 is based around.

This would also mean the Xfinity scheme in Motorfest is the first new scheme produced for any of the 23XI cars since their lawsuit with NASCAR, and it makes me wonder if it was made by Iracing for NASCAR 25 and it just never made it into the game.

AFAIK iRacing Studios now has an exclusivity deal with NASCAR after they dropped Monster Games. That likely meant Ubisoft had to pay a premium for the license to use the Cup cars (just like other racing game developers had to pay a premium to use Porsche when EA had an exclusivity deal with them), and because of the frankly bad situation Ubisoft is in right now financial-wise, they have had to upcharge it somewhat.

FH6 requirements are out, no mention on storage requirement yet, probably 200GB?

Recommended requirement is targeting high settings at 1440p so if you're on 1080p you might still get away with a slightly weaker GPU

TDU Solar Crown released Season 6 in today's patch, and most of the new cars are paywalled:

Also, Nacon mentioned in their livestream that race payouts will be "adjusted" in Season 7, aka nerfed again, to tempt people even more to pay for the microtransactions.

At this point, what is even the point of playing the new games? Just pick up an old racer, not like there is a shortage of them.

Random wish, there should be an option to customize the interior and dash like in Midnight Club. I do expect FH6 in Japan to be sterile, almost like an extensive mod for FH4/5.

Time to go back to playing Wipeout 2048.
How do you even manage in that piece of shit? I'm up to A class and it just doesn't feel good flying goddamn anything because the ship swerves too much. How did they fuck it up so bad after Pure and Pulse is beyond me.

Re thread: just finished the PSVita version of 2012 Most Wanted and it was awesome. The only way it would be better if it had more police to bulldoze through. Very well optimized for a so-and-so handheld - better, even, that the aforementioned Wipeout 2048 (which, I may add, is/was supposed to be a SNOY flagship title for the thing); the cars look good, the events are (by and large) fun, the mid-race tuning mechanic is great and the vehicle hotswap idea is very nice. Asphalt Injection and Ridge Racer completely BTFO.

I’m always happy to see more shitboxes being added to GT7. It’s so much more fun launching them through corners vs how precise and sweaty Gr.3, Gr2 and Gr.1 racing is.

When it comes to Racing Games I fire up Most Wanted 2005 from time to time. Still looks good and it is just fun to play

I've been on a nostalgia kick lately and have played a few games I only learned about recently through emulation, and older racing games of all stripes absolutely mog modern games, especially among games in their own franchise. I got so much enjoyment out of Forza Motorsport 3 and 4 through Xenia that I actually caved and bought a used 360 on Facebook just so I can actually use the install disks (aka, the other half of the fucking cars). The games have aged absolutely wonderfully from the handling to the visuals and career progression. The same can be said of the original Forza Horizon.

Unfortunately, modern FM (much like Gran Turismo, funny enough) has absolutely shit the bed. I'm hoping beyond hope that Horizon 6 isn't absolute dogshit. The fans have wanted Japan as the locale since pretty much Horizon 2, JDM heavy theme and all. I don't have the expectations of Turn10 going into the same level of autistic detail as something like the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series' (new game is excellent by the way) depiction of Tokyo's iconic highway system, but I think the game as a whole will be alright barring any significant technical issues or greedy monetary practices.

Side note but related, fuck Nacon and what they've done to the Test Drive series. You had a series that had "realistic" depictions of driving going back to the DOS days and games that laid the blueprints for the open world "car MMO" that other games would later attempt to varying degrees of success. All they had to do was make TDU2 with nicer assets and and a better driving model and it would have sold gangbusters. Now, it has numbers on Steam that make Marathon look healthy.
