And after the disastrous Premium currency addition to TDU Solar Crown, Nacon is going into damage control mode by having a Free-to-play weekend on Steam:

And this will probably get people to write more negative reviews of the game.
Any time I see news about Solar Crown, it's always something that just makes it look really pathetic. Seems it could be a case study in how to totally bungle the release and continued support of a modern title.

And the best that Nacon could do, albeit this was before FH6's gameplay trailer, was a collaboration with PUMA as a weekly Live Event:

Forza Horizon 6 teaser out proper. Woo

Finally, a Horizon set in Japan. Not like the fans have been asking for this for like 14 years now. I'm not a huge fan of the storylines they try to do for these games, but at least the gameplay itself is alright. I hear people complain that Horizon's driving physics are too arcadey, but those people are usually the ones who never bothered with the Motorsport games. Playing Horizon with "realistic" physics would be an absolute pain in the ass due to the course compositions and layouts. Even with all the assists off, Horizon's driving experience is a decent balance between arcadey and realism for what it's trying to do. There's still a few vehicles that are busted bullshit (Bone Shaker), but I still see some diverse lineups when you don't match with sweats running meta tunes on meta cars.

Anyone know if this is game is any good? It looks cool, I wish there more combat racing games like Twisted Metal and this is definitely inspired by that. I have a couple red flags though:
>early access
>PS1 artstyle
I think it's made by slavs so hopefully it's not lame in spite of that? just curious if anyone's played Fumes before I try out the demo.

It's pretty good, though I haven't played it in a bit

I'm in Most Wanted (2005) right now and, the game is pretty difficult and enjoyable.
I love Most Wanted, definitely one of my top three racing games, but I feel like the bounty requirements get out of hand on the later half. I understand that the pursuits were the main attraction and that they need to keep increasing to up the challenge, but they become simply tedious once the requirements to race the Blacklist members starts to reach the millions.

Ironically, Most Wanted (2012) totally disregarded them, so you can finish the entire game without ever participating in a pursuit outside of the scripted ones during races.

Yeah, it is tedious but not hard IMO.
I got like 1million in bounties between destroying like 40 cops in 12 minutes.
The only hard parts in pursuits are the spike roads, a entire squad stopping you, the fucking helicopter and the cooldown part when sometimes you want to go into a hideout but the game pops you a cop in front of you.
But, i got a exploit; just go into the prision, jump the first level and stop into a narrow upper floor. The cops aren't scripted well for those cases and they fall off every time.

Nah, the most ironic part is Carbon ditched entirely the pursuits, making completly optional the pursuits... to Undercover bringing them again.

Got into racing games myself this prior year. Funnily enough, it started with Euro Truck Simulator 2, then went to Need for Speed: Underground 2, which I really enjoyed, then played most wanted, and subsequently My Summer Car.

Very enjoyable genre to get into.

I used to only enjoy racing games with arcadey driving mechanics and gameplay, but I slowly grew into sims the older I got. Games like Gran Turismo hard-filtered me as a kid because I wasn't interested/competent enough to get past the licenses to actually get to the meat of the game. Once I got older and started to actually drive, the interest in recreating the driving experience in cars I couldn't/wouldn't get a chance to own grew. I've been fortunate enough to have the spare time and income to fix up a few shitboxes for autocross and spend time on a proper track, but the prospect of owning a car worth more than my house is still a ways off.

Right, so; got a few likes on my last post, so I'll go ahead and post more videos here. Got about 6 more for you guys, each with different songs, all of them from a YouTuber named Marius; he doesn't really make music/racing game syncs like this anymore, but he's still got plenty of nice content. Speaking of which, here are the videos of his:

The first four are from Split/Second, Disney's action-racing game:

I really like how the music semi-synced up on this one; the chorus kicking in during the ship parts on the first and second laps, the rest of the racers catching up right as the third verse kicks in, and the gentler rendition of the finale of the third lap all work exceptionally well!

Not as good as the others; song choice is solid, but it doesn't sync well with the action and the track isn't as good. Still a damn fine race, though.

The way the music goes full-tilt on the very first Power Play as the driver wrecks 7 other cars, and the drop syncing with the tower falling on the third lap, makes this one a banger!

Again, not the greatest of songs, personally, but... 3:30 makes up for it.

So, dipping away from Split/Second now, we've got two more videos; the first is from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

Godly music sync at 1:58. Something about Sonic music makes for good racing, I suppose.

Lastly, we got a video from MotorStorm: Apocalypse.

Sadly not the greatest of songs, but the track is nice, it does sync up fairly well, and it's a solid enough ending I suppose.

Any thoughts? What do you guys think?

EDIT: Fixed a sentence spoiler.

Carmageddon Rogue Shift
Not played it. It sounds neat though. A combat racing game but with rogue-like progression.

Getting slammed in the user reviews for being different from the OG carmageddon.

No idea how good it is because the steam reviews are a mess and I've not seen anyone else really talk about it.

Edit:
What the fuck is going on with this genre?
If you mean broadly, Raycevick has a great video about it.
But the short version is that the genre is torn between two extremes. Everything has to be an overpriced autism simulator for people who have racing wheels that cost more than a real car, or a kart racer for kids. In both cases, quality is optional.

And all AAA games are wringing as much money out of the few players they have.

I expressed some of this in the Unpopular opinions about Video Games thread, but you'll have to go pages back to get caught up, It's genuinely very angering that what were left with are the simulators that don't contain any sort of fun. Also the Raycevick video is great.

Austin Ogonoski even did a semi-professional pitch for something that would deviate from this norm and likely would work if for no other reason than licenses for all the cars being so damn expensive these days. I still remember his rants from /ovg/ and how all the journalistic collusion back in 2014 was established in the world of automotive press.
