Turn 10 finally makes a vague statement about the future of Forza, after their silence following the layoffs there:

This is definitely not reassuring at all, unless drastic actions are taken.

I've been mildly keeping an eye on the new game in the TXR franchise and I think...
Is it just me or is the title really fraudulent?
Extreme racing... against a singular opponent, on a mostly linear paved road with no runoff area and with less traffic in the way than in Grand Theft Auto III. The only word in the title that seems accurate to me is "Tokyo"

The franchise's English title was made in a time when using words like "extreme" or "radical" was in vogue, around 1999 with the original on the Dreamcast. Because extreme sports was simultaneously on the rise, this was their attempt to cater to the American market.

If it means anything, Europe did have the first two games labeled Tokyo Highway Challenge and does make more sense with what you're doing in that game: challenging opponents on the highway. But they didn't keep it named like that for long and resorted to using the American titles afterwards. Japan, meanwhile, has always set it up as 首都高バトル, or Shutokō Battle since the Super Famicom original.

So the main reason for why it is named as such is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

Was playing mechanic sim spend an ungodly amount of money and scrap on rebuilding a RX-7 I am happy with the results only complaint is that even on extreme with mods it's still to basic and the inability to add more rotors to the RX-7 is a crime.

I started playing Need for Speed 2015 recently and thought it would suck. Sure there are many flaws but overall the game has been a pleasant surprise. Dare I say I actually enjoyed myself while playing (Unlike many of the previous titles).

What's everyone's opinion on Need for Speed 2015? Is it over-hated?

It was way too ahead of it's time me thinkies. This being the first Need for Speed fully developed by Ghost Games didn't help either, because people already didn't like Rivals when they first stepped in.

NFS 2015 is like the Windows Vista of racing games. Being too ahead of its time meant that if you didn't have a top of the line PC you couldn't run it properly and people hated it for that, aside from the Ghost Games thing. But now that it's got some years onto it, and mediocre titles like Heat and Unbound releasing, and increasing rumors that the whole serious would get canned in general - of course retrospective views are going to be favorable to NFS 2015.

Thx for sharing ur thoughts. I think the biggest reasons for NFS 2015’s backlash are the controls and the live service bullshit.

Imo they should have dropped drift-to-turn and return to a more grippy handling model for this title. This game would have been an Underground 3 if not for the random ass controls (still better than Rivals tho).

The live service is just completely unnecessary. I don’t see any reason for it when the plotline is completely single player driven. This is clearly EA’s meddling.

I've been trying my hand at making relatively plausible cars in Automation so I can convert them to BeamNG

Here is my best attempt, the Dragoon Pintano 1.6 LXi:

Despite looking like a dumpy econobox it's kinda fast and has enough torque to spin the wheels in 3rd.

Need for Speed: Underground 2 walked so Midnight Club could run (and hide.) While Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition surpassed Underground 2 with content, customization and believability, Underground 2 is a time capsule of futurist rebellion/expression that street car culture was known for. U2's Bayview and its car models look stylized where it's almost like you're in the future, yet now, it's an accurate representation of what it meant to be a street car guy.

Any good emulators to play Midnight Club LA? Or am I gonna have to buy myself a used 360? Because RPCS3 runs like ass for me.
Late reply, but the PSP/PSVita Midnight Club was a combination of two games from what I understand?

Kiwi racist what is the closest game similar to Grand Turismo 3 on pc? I remember playing it on ps2 and really loving the tournaments, gathering cash for cars, winning cars for gold medals and tuning some shitbox to be the fastest in its class.
I hear Project Cars 2 and 3, but both have been delisted in favour of a mobile game nobody likes.

I've never played the original GRiD titles, so I cannot say what GRiD is actually about. From the six hours I've played of GRID (2019) before it was delisted, as barebones as it is on the surface, the simplicity of stock car track racing stood out to me. No fine-tuning, no car builds, no forced narrative, just race through the same tracks with the same classes of cars.
@FILTH Tourist nailed it. Another thing I like (but sim racers hate) is the AI. It's aggressive, but also makes mistakes. Sometimes taking a corner too wide, sometime completely wrecking themselves on the final corner/straight. Multi car pile ups are rare but can happen. The damage is also rad too.

There are few cars which is bad, and no tuning, but they feel distinct. If you can put up with game crashes, a piss filter, and ini-editing as the game breaks at high FPS, then it can be got on archive.org. Also, there's a little bit of a grind in the mid game.

Made another one. It's called the Ibishu Cocoma Kevin GT-Ajax (totally not based on any other car):

I overdid it a little with the engine since it makes 303 horsepower out of a turbo 2 liter inline 4 while the year of manufacture is supposed to be 1990. Despite this the car actually drives pretty well even without traction control.

I also made an alternate version called the Cocoma Runner Falseno GT-Ajax Liftback:
