Holy shit. There are some indications that the CIA did have contact with Saloth Sar, even after the fall of Phnom Penh, but it's sketchy and not all that reliable. Even if it were credible, it'd just amount to sour grapes on the part of the CIA as they weren't as free to do as they pleased in SE Asia in the wake of US withdrawal from Vietnam.
There's equally credible evidence (that is to say not very) that the CIA offered some assistance the Vietnamese when they went into Democratic Kampuchea. CIA spooks are weird, who would've figured?
