I think maybe they think the definition of marginalise is 'lionise someone into a folk hero who can do no wrong'. That would also explain why they seem to believe BLM is marginalised and troons are marginalised non stop.

Having made a once futile attempt to reach out to them, it's obvious that place has maybe a few remotely sane people, but the mass majority are utterly convinced their enemies are evil incarnate, they are the good guys, and despite having all the major pillars of their causes discredited time and again, they still believe GamerGate is exactly as Zoe Quinn originally tried to spin it, even though even the FBI has officially cleared GamerGate of the bullshit it was accused of.

If anything, if you want to judge who the craziest people are, it's like the Party from "Nineteen Eighty-Four" where the people who run the place are the craziest, the long time posters aren't much better and if any of them shows a hint of going against the mods, they are unpersoned, and then the occasional posters, a few of which I have been contacted by in private and found can be quite reasonable as people even if we oppose each other ideologically.

Very few were actually gamers, they turned into a generic "rrreeeeeee muh sociul juwstice" the second Gamergate stopped having enough momentum for them to exclusively bitch about it.

Speaking as a cellar-dwelling fanboy drooler, glad to see you actually post here. Though as 1984 scenes go, I think the more poignant is how the novel starts with our protagonist watching pathetic party outcasts in a bar, and then at the end of the novel, he himself is one of those pathetic party outcasts.

We're all going to suffer and die. The world is never getting better.
