I refuse to believe I’m the same species are these exemplary idiots. Thank God, they don’t breed! The consequences the Handmaid’s tale is LARPing resistance and mental and moral deterioration; I’m pro-choice but killing yourself over pregnancy to own the Christians and fantasising about shooting others as vindictive retribution is beyond sanity.

There’s also alottttt of racism against the black supreme judge from allusions to Uncle Tom and straight up racial pejoratives.

I really hope these people either get themselves castrated or never ever conceive children under any circumstances because the insanity in these posts scares me. Why they can't imagine just giving the baby up to a family that will care is beyond me, then again these people are probably all adult children who never want to grow up and lack critical thinking skills.

The whole story reads like someone's deranged daydream rather than anything that really happened. She probably saw a kid, had a bizarre emotional overreaction to seeing a kid like she always does, and cooked up this story to get updoots. The unnecessary yammering detail ("we went to get allergy meds and then we went on the allergy meds aisle, allergy meds") is a tell for confabulation.

They exist. I’ve met several and they are like that mostly out of spite and envy, which kind of makes them even more dangerous than people who have an actual ideal.

I have met them too. And yes they tend to be volatile, undertreated mental illness plus unshakable belief in their righteousness- the kind of people who quite possibly could do a terrorism in the right circumstances.

Giving the child to another family means sacrificing time and effort to give birth. Even if it was one day instead of nine months they would not want to give that because they are extremely selfish and self-centered. It would also mean the child would be loved by somebody else- maybe more than the redditor was ever loved. Can't have that.

I agree. It is a cultural rot and I have watched it get worse and worse over the past 20ish years. I've always been fascinated with the freetard crowd as cows- there is a lot of overlap between that affiliation and really lulzy shit like being a furry, embarrassing cosplay, polycules, putting hexes on people- and have watch them evolve and become more mainstream even as they became more hysterical and radicalized. It's alarming. The idea that being "childfree" is just a heckin' wholesome decisionorino is cultural suicide. Rather than shrugging it off as "at least those defectives don't breed" (though I completely echo the sentiment) we need to be making people less defective in the first place- if you catch them early a lot of them are reformable. But if a vulnerable young person falls in with the freetard crowd they can get their worst traits reinforced and built up until they're some kind of rageaholic monster.

I don't get how they loathe them either. Whenever I see kids I get an extremely paternalistic desire to protect them and raise my own children. I don't know if it is just me or something innately biological (I suspect the latter, considering I'm sure most people would risk throwing their lives away if it meant saving a 5 year old from a life threatening situation) but these people seem to be missing something chemically in their minds if they truly hate kids as much as they profess to.

Reading some of the child free people is sad. Like, if you’re doing something neat in public, like walking your adorable dog or picking your apples or feeding ducks at the park and a kid comes up and asks you a few questions, is that the worst thing?

Raising little kids through Covid has been a trick. Mine is very curious and pretty confident. He will say hi to every kid and most adults. He asks if he can pet your dog and what’s her name? If you don’t like it: say no, ignore him or walk away, it’s fine. I’m also standing right there in case he gets weird.

But in these strange times, especially with older people, a few minutes chatting with a cute kid who is interested in you is a jolt of connection for lonely people who may be having a hard time.

It's just selection. Not sure what's being selected, but something is getting sorted.
