That anyone believes that Jim Bob actually thought Josh would get caught or face consequences amuses me. Anna is/was an easily controllable Hail Mary effort to "control Josh's urges" after the Holts bolted. There's a definite caste system within the IFB and ATI/IBLP and while the Duggars were on top with their prolific breeding and TV specials, word had gotten around the other upper echelon families in the IFB following the end of Josh's betrothal to the Holt daughter that made it hard to marry him off to a Bates or Wissman despite him being the crown prince. Enter the social climbing, destitute Kellers who were happy to offer up their eldest girl.

If Jim Bob factored in the prison ministry at all it was likely him hoping that it would expose Josh to some prison life and maybe scare him into repressing things. Maybe he thought (remember, Jim Bob, despite having some cunning, was only ever able to ride in the ranks of an ignorant AF cult in the ass crack of Arkansas because he is ultimately dumb AF) that the prison ministry connections would help him further ensure that law enforcement might turn a blind eye or allow him to learn to circumvent any investigations into his family or Josh. Maybe. You have to remember, this is a man stupid, entitled, and out of touch enough to look at a Federal court judge during his son's child porn trial and try to dictate what would be allowed in that judge's courtroom just because he didn't like it. He's also the guy who let his slave wife present a character witness letter to a court signed with a heart over the i in her name. He considered himself and his favorite son untouchable right up until the sentence was passed down yesterday. He likely still thinks that he's going to somehow get Josh out.

Anna is a zombie who believes everything the men in her cult tell her and that's it. Jim Bob knows that. He needed someone he could control and her family has gained a lot from that marriage. It's also why he feels comfortable putting all of those LLC's and properties in her name.

Money is his main means of control with most of his kids as his sons are useless and he made the mistake of letting some of his older daughters marry men with means or educations of their own. It's why Jessa has now replaced Jill as the favorite daughter and toes the line the most out of the older married girls despite getting jack shit in return - Jim Bob married her off to a guy who is even more of a useless idiot than his sons and who had a mad fan crush on Jessa and the Duggars as a teen. Jessa and Ben, only after having four kids, finally got out of the two bedroom shack they were living in this year. Keep in mind that Jill, the first girl to get married, the actual favorite daughter, and the one who married an educated accountant (at the time) who came from some money (his mom is an executive at Wal Mart) got a McMansion on the Duggar compound as a wedding present. By the time the Dillards went rogue (over money, remember), Jinger and Joy were married to men who had lives of their own and I can promise you that Rim Job will be seeking out other Ben Seewalds for the rest of his girls. JB thought he could trust other fundie men to toe the line. Most other Fundie men (the ones who are smarter than him, anyways, which is a low bar to clear) are just as obsessed with control and belief in their own authority as he is. And it's not like he's a pastor or anything.

Every Duggar descendent going forward he's going to try and keep living off of scraps for the rest of their days. Problem is, the more he sinks into his Golden Baby Rape Enthusiast, the fewer scraps he'll have and when that happens... :story: Tax loop holes can only get you so far after the TLC tap has been turned off.

If JB ever goes down, it'll be because people will have followed the money, I promise you. And yes, he probably will be exposed as a sex pest as well but that'll only happen once his wallet is truly empty.

The very worst part is that even if she did believe he was guilty, she would still welcome him back with open arms because the IBLP preaches that if you have a Chomo husband a) it's because you weren't a good enough person/wife and didn't set a good enough example and also fulfill his needs properly so really it's your fault and b) you're still bound to him. Yes, that also applies if he molested the kids.

And I believe that sister is the one that owns the beach house she lent to her brother Nathan and his wife Nurie for a sort of honeymoon, then Nuries' parents, Jillpm and Shrek decided to crash there as well with the entire Rodriges family.

There is no parole in the federal system. He will serve at least 85% of the sentence (and even then he'd be on supervised release), he may max out as well since he will probably refuse sex offender counseling and refuse to agree he did these things (generally requirements for supervised release for sex offenders).

He also has a lengthy probationary tail where he will absolutely fuck up and get sent back to prison again, and again, and again.

I feel like I'm the only one who thinks this is lame and he got a slap on the wrist. He'll get out in a decade and be back to the family compound where he'll be protected by Jim Bob.

The judge acted like the "special conditions" he imposed for probation are something unique to this case, but they are pretty standard stipulations for this type of charge. The judge is already talking like he's going to get out and resume his normal life minus Internet access.

Disappointed but not surprised. If anyone deserved the maximum sentence, it's Josh Duggar, who has a prior history of child molestation and possessed videos of an infant being raped.

Nah, hearing he only got 12 years made my stomach turn. Josh Duggar didn’t “just” molest his kid sisters or “just” have CP—he sought out videos of literal baby torture. Babies. Being tortured.

On the bright side, I just learned there are no conjugal visits in federal prison. But he and Anna will be around ~45 years old when he gets out. Jim Bob and Michelle were still shitting out kids well into their 40s. I’m praying that by then, Anna’s womb is as blighted as her family name. In Fundie Jesus’s name, amen. 🙏🏻

I'm sure most of us are similarly disappointed, especially given that iirc 20 years had been on the table at some point. 12 isn't the best, but it's better than I think a lot of people were expecting, especially the Duggars.

Me, I can't wait to see how carb fat and pasty he gets. Here's hoping some teary video calls get leaked (rainbows)
