I'm sure they did. But that's a cynical ploy to dunk on fundies. If it were one of their own on trial, those cretins would be circling the wagons and whining about QAnon.Didn't r/atheism go nuts over this exact headline literally 7 years ago?
Read the thread. Put simply, Josh thought he’d covered his tracks well enough and that daddy’s money would get a defense lawyer that could make magic happen. Guess what motherfucker, geolocation data doesn’t lie. Having multiple contradictory stories being thrown around by the defense as for why you’re not guilty that can easily be proven false by just listening to your testimony to an officer isn’t a good look. Neither is having a wonderfully long history of being a sex pest. The prosecution made a good case, stuck to the facts, used their experts well and made sure the jury understood that reasonable doubt is *reasonable* not *possible.*Can anyone recommend a good summary of the trial, witnesses and evidence? Haven't been following this much.
What was the question here, exactly? Federal prosecutors have like a 98% conviction rate; did they just not offer him a plea deal or did he actually think he had a chance?
This sparks joy.get booked fucker:

You can find a summary just about everywhere, atm. He was offered a plea deal! His big, fat Christian, holier-than-thou ego wouldn't take it. No, no....see, per the playbook, you can't cry "persecution" if you take the plea deal. Josh is his father's son. Jim Bob and Josh, and most men in that cult, believe that they are God's selected men. They believe that they're smart enough and righteous enough to evade consequences. They don't hide the fact that they believe they're the only hope for saving America and returning it to righteous favor. It's sick and twisted and beyond-the-pale. If you grew up in a house where you admitted to finger banging your sisters and your parents sent you to a "friend", who was also a cop, that was subsequently convicted of kiddy porn... and then your parents got a reality show contract with a major network (less than six months later) and a new house and vacations, why wouldn't you think you were above the law? A major network paid for his wedding and honeymoon...and Jim Bob and Meech went on camera and talking about how virtuous Josh was for saving his kisses for marriage (forget that he'd already got to third base with a five year old). TLC continued to pay this family... even when Josh was caught on Ashley Madison! He's had no consequences for his actions that mattered. Now he will. Can anyone recommend a good summary of the trial, witnesses and evidence? Haven't been following this much.

Not accurate. Derrick was there. He left after the verdict to tell Jill, himself. I didn't see Austin, though, today. I hope Derrick walked past Jim Bob with a smile.Only Jim Bob, Anna, and Smugger came for the verdict. The victims and their husbands appear to have attended only to hear his crimes against them exposed, and to be there for Anna.
whynotboth.pngI’d settle for castration, honestly.
Justin and wife were there too, and so was Derrick.Only Jim Bob, Anna, and Smugger came for the verdict. The victims and their husbands appear to have attended only to hear his crimes against them exposed, and to be there for Anna.
No, they celebrated him being outed as child molester, but the statute of limitations was up by then so no charges could be brought. This time he's finally doing time.Didn't r/atheism go nuts over this exact headline literally 7 years ago?
I can't imagine how crazy making this must have been for the Holts over the past nearly 20 years, knowing that Josh was an actively offending pedo in their community all this time and having their reports to police go nowhere due to Jim Bob's influence with both church and the local authorities.
give him a fewHow long before Takedownman tries to take claim for helping Duggar get busted?
Yeah, he started to come off the rails in May 2015. Ashley Madison happened, and then In Touch reported that he may have molested five kids (four of whom were his sisters) when he was himself a kid. Something about the cops managing to cover it up at the time because of his family's money and power. It caused him to resign from the Family Research Council though.Didn't r/atheism go nuts over this exact headline literally 7 years ago?
