Right? It's almost like repressing natural urges to the point of public ridicule and "emulation of the flesh" (which was why he was sent to dig a sewage pond, by hand, for looking at porn) is a recipe for fucking disaster! It's almost like making hand-holding "adultery" is criminalizing the wrong thing. Full frontal hugs? HORROR. Diddling your sister "under her pantaloons" during Bible Time...well, that's just "curiosity". Makes the phrase "at least he came to us" seem all sorts of unforgivable.

No, he was busted for assault with a deadly weapon. He made bail but he's still highly likely to go to prison. Either way, he's removed from play for a few years. Amos Yee deserved more time in prison, but the fact nobody can deny he's a pedo anymore is a nice bonus.

Can anyone recommend a good summary of the trial, witnesses and evidence? Haven't been following this much.

What was the question here, exactly? Federal prosecutors have like a 98% conviction rate; did they just not offer him a plea deal or did he actually think he had a chance?

Federal law requires mandatory detention of a person found guilty of receipt of child porn because it is a crime involving the sexual exploitation of children, which meets the statutory definition of a "crime of violence." The only way the law says Josh can be released now that he has been found guilty is if 1) there is a substantial likelihood a new trial or motion for acquittal would be granted 2) the prosecution is recommending no imprisonment as a sentence AND 3) the defendant isn't likely to flee or be a danger. The answer to the first two are hard nos, so Joshy is not going anywhere. The law requires this.

I know it's nowhere NEAR as bad, but his wife should have probably known something was off with his "conservative values" when he was implicated in the Ashley Madison data breach. Instead, she forgave him for that shit too.

Only Jim Bob, Anna, and Smugger came for the verdict. The victims and their husbands appear to have attended only to hear his crimes against them exposed, and to be there for Anna.
