What did the judge mean by the court being constrained? I don't get why he didn't say the reason for taking him immediately into custody.

I don’t know. I don’t know what would have legally constrained the Judge from granting bond pending sentencing. The Judge would have been better off just denying it with no further comment and then just moving on. Bond pending sentencing isn’t something that’s guaranteed. Depending on the charges, it’s not something you’d expect to get. Most folks with financial crimes that don’t make the National “news” can get it. Sex offenders have gotten it in the past. I can think of a couple of examples of guys busted on TCAP that got Fed charges and were out even past sentencing and were given a date to surrender themselves at the prison gate.

It might be something having to do with the fact that Duggar didn’t plea out, but took it all the way through trial. The VAST majority of cases, especially in the Fed system, end in plea deals, so maybe the “bond until sentencing” is something that’s regularly given in plea deals but not something you can usually get from a judge at trial? I really don’t know.

Anna is going to have a really, really rough time. She has seven children. She has no marketable skills. She needs a divorce attorney, counselling, and an advocate to extricate herself from the fundy Kool-Aid pool. Her kids...damn, this was the outcome that was just and for that I'm overjoyed. But, going back home to tell your kids that they will not being seeing their father without a layer of plexiglass between them for the next five-to-twenty years will be a ball buster.

I don't know anything about these people, but just giving a cursory glance to the OP and seeing that his dad has been involved in politics in Arkansas since the 90s immediately set off red flags in my brain. Arkansas, for those unaware, was Bill Clinton's old stomping grounds in the 80s when he was doing fun things like having Vince Foster murdered; as well as where the Walton family come from.

It really sickens me as someone who lives in the Bible Belt that sickfuck politicians will throw up "Muh Jeebus" and "Aw shucks y'all muh family valyoos" as shields to do reprehensible and abhorrent shit. (See; Omaha Nebraska Franklin Credit scandal)

I hope the faggot rots in his own shit in jail; good riddance.
