Any updates on the plane crash ana-fundie cult or the Duggars?

I had a thought. We all know quiverfull parents love pawning off all the hard parenting work on their eldest daughters, but what do quiverfull types do when they keep getting boys? Do they tend to spare boys being forced to parent their siblings, or will they force the oldest son to be a sister mom if they haven't had luck conceiving girls?

I think there is something most outsiders do not understand about conservative Christians like fundamentalists and anabaptists: Older sons are expected to help with the rearing of children. It is likely for this reason Josh Duggar had access to his sisters, because it isn't unusual for an older child of either sex to have more "parental access" to children. It is not exclusively "women's work" to tend to children, but strictly for division of labor, it is easier to take care of little children and for men to do the heavier lifting.

People love to act like young women are the exclusive victims of these groups, but young men are expected to do some backbreaking labor. I would rather care for a toddler than spend 10+ hour days harvesting wheat.

I dont think anyone doesn't think boys arent victims of the cults either, even with the sexual abuse it seems to happen to tons of boys as well as girls.

Fundies all around treat their kids like shit, and as much of a monster as he is I wouldn't be surprised if even Josh Duggar has been through some shit.

Being a victim doesn't pardon his crimes.

Women and girls are more affected by sexual abuse, and more often the victims. I just don't think the child minding is so much abuse or that it's minded so much. It's better than backbreaking labor, which is what would be expected of either sex if they weren't tending to children.

The Duggars did have the boys do child rearing until Josh molested his sisters and they said as much. Then it became solely women’s work because “we needed to reduce temptation” or something equally stupid. If your kid touches his baby sister then there’s something wrong with your kid, not with having him change a diaper.

I can’t believe I had never heard of these lunatics until now. She was like a modern day Tammy Faye and I didn’t even know it until she was already dead.

“Weigh Down Ministries” holy shit, Jesus, anorexia, big hair and big heels. Her washed up actor husband was a great addition.

Gwen’s severely anorexic daughter is terrifying too. I wonder what she will do now that mommy dearest and her husband are dead. Either become top anachan skelly for Jesus or run for the hills.

The ginger vegan really should put in a job application at that cult, it seems perfect for her.

She and her brother have muscled in as the new top dogs at the church. He's a man, so he'll be treated better - but she's a widow now, so that makes her more equal to a man. We'll see whether it causes a schism or if they share power.

Well she’s also obviously deranged and probably doesn’t have the energy to do much of anything given her level of anorexia. I’d bet the brother will just use her as a pitiful pawn to consolidate his power. The brother will run the scam and she can focus on more important stuff, like not eating and increasing her thigh gap.

Tinfoil idea: anorexia mirabilis

Hypothesis:
Weight Down Workshop reminds me of holy anorexia in Victorian Britain. Unlike today where (normal) parents freak the fuck out when their teenager hugely restricts calories, back in the 1800s some people considered it pious and pure to starve. Eating was glutinous, and not eating for a long time meant a girl was "above" earthly needs and closer to god. They were sacrificing their physical comfort and health- like Jesus!!

I'm also thinking there could be a sexual aspect of modern holy anorexia. The parents want their daughters to stay childlike because sexuality is bad, and beating boys off with a stick is exhausting if you have 5+ teenage daughters at once.

I was impressed the hair lady had bachelor's and master's degrees in nutritional science. It makes me think she wasn't stupid, just fucking insane. (Which is honestly more terrifying, imo.) No wonder she got so far. Her Wikipedia page politely said that the registered dietician community through she was a quack.

I've seen the umbrella method used in a SPIRITUAL authority sense so they are your covering until you're responsible enough to have a personal relationship with God when you mature (Teenager really) and have an understanding of what Christianity is... or I've seen it used as a covering for responsibility because you're a kid and you gotta be taken care of bc you're A KID...
I was raised with THAT but the idea that kids get the leftovers etc? That ANYTHING mommy dearest says is the Word? VILE.

My upbringing taught that mom and dad have the most responsibility and that the kids need to be protected, cared for, etc first and then the parents come after.

Do they think that they come first no matter what and use the 'covering' example as an excuse? Because if so then Jill you are a piece of shit and I'm pretty sure Jesus isnt gonna let you into Heaven like you think he is.

Narcissistic little phucks like Jill and Hubby use God as an excuse for abuse and for buttpats outside of the household.

The Rodrigues family (Jill, really) has become a personal hyper focus of mine. I can’t tell why I’m so interested in their trainwreck of a life, but I’m definitely in for the ride.

The Rods are my fave fundies by a mile because they just defy logic and have absolutely no redeeming qualities. If I didn't know better, I'd say they were a piece of performance art satirizing the evangelical right.
