The Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital for preliminary medical checks and is now back at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace has said.
The 95-year-old monarch returned from hospital at lunchtime on Thursday and is "in good spirits", the palace added.
The Queen was said to be "disappointed" after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
She was given medical advice to rest for a few days, after a busy schedule of public engagements.
In a statement on Thursday night, Buckingham Palace said: "Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits."
The Queen was seen by specialists at the private King Edward VII's Hospital in central London, about 19 miles (32km) from Windsor. Her admittance is understood not to be related to coronavirus.
The overnight stay was said to be for practical reasons and the Queen was back at her desk undertaking light duties on Thursday afternoon.
The King Edward VII's is a private hospital in London's Marylebone used by senior royals, including the Queen's husband, the late Duke of Edinburgh, who received treatment there earlier this year.
It has been a busy period of official engagements for the Queen.
She was pictured hosting a Global Investment Summit at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
An official record of the Queen's diary showed at least 15 other formal events during October.
On Wednesday, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said the monarch had "reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days".
He said the Queen was "disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland" - which would have involved an overnight stay.
She is expected to lead a royal delegation to the Glasgow COP26 climate change summit in two weeks' time.
Earlier this week, the Queen declined a magazine's award of Oldie of the Year, saying "you are only as old as you feel".
She "politely but firmly" turned down the award, but sent the Oldie magazine a message with her "warmest best wishes".

Just a preliminary thread for now, but it's worth keeping an eye on, pretty sure this was how it started with Philip...

I hope many British people get very sad about this and the IRA takes back Northern Ireland. British 'people' are scum.

Her passing has again reminded me of how insufferable some of these big players in the twitter sphere can be. It's ironic, too, had she simply been born black or any other minority they'd be singing a different tune. They're so simple-minded it hurts.

Got some Celtic in me so I don't care. However the Queen must have died thinking just how fucked, cucked and soul-sucked her family will be. Considering how Charles and Harry became Royal Cucks. Doubt William is gonna pull through and prove he's legit king materal because his old man certainly ain't.

The fallout is gonna be fun so let's the popcorn and soda ready.

When the Queen entered office, the country was prosperous, homogenous, united, and functional. It is none of those things now. She could have spoken out at any point; but the sum total of her generosity and will to intervene was used to stop Snoop Dog from being barred entry when he was under investigated for multiple murders.

It is bad to speak ill of the dead. The Queen is dead.

I followed the announcement as it was given on the arrse website. Very touching. Grown men openly admitting to crying. I can understand it. You served your whole life (or large part) to protect Her Majesty the Queen who rules by Divine Right! And now she is gone. Leccy bills through the roof, it's the end of an era.

Not a criticism. I just found it very quaint, being a Republican myself.

I had to pinch myself when Charlie boy became King. I always assumed it would be Wills. But of course, he comes later. I give Charlie 5 years at most to abdicate and hand over to Wills. If he hasn't done it by then, he never will.

The press have been building up Wills and Kate so much that it seems like a done deal.

Charles is inheriting a right royal shit show. I think he just likes getting pissed and red-faced on expensive Scottish Scotch and cutting prissy little ribbons. When he's not being a robber-baron landlord (Poundbury).

I won't dance on the Queens grave. I was never a fan. I'm glad this is the beginning of the end for them and something hopefully better will take its place. But I don't know what her trick was, though she held court and weaved magic spells among the people for many years, since time...

I caught a cheeky little tear out of the corner of my eye on hearing of her passing, then I realised what it was. My gran looked exactly like her, and also she was a staunch anti-royalist! Lol. She didn't get much of a send-off although a few people did mourn her passing.

I don't know what the fuck the Queen's trick was, but pretty sure ol' Charlie boy and Queen Consort Camilla won't be pulling it any time soon.

As for Air Miles Andy. I think he got off lightly. Not really sure if this is a GOOD thing or a BAD thing for him. But time will tell I guess.

The whole royal family is weird as fuck. In Bongland they tell us they are descended from Vlad The Impaler, or is it Count Dracula? Charles has a castle in Transylvania. The royal family hate garlic at any meal. And the Queen, god rest her soul, had a pair of canine vampire teeth the likes of which you have never seen (outside of Dracula).

It's just a shame that ol' Jimmy Savile is dead.

The new King of Bongland would have loved to have had him by his side, once again, I am sure.

Long live the King!

She's had to oversee a lot of societal change in her lifetime, and she dies in the middle of a global recession and rampant inflation. Talk about going out on a low note.

I cant wait until she dies

I feel kinda bad that she died not long after her husband Phillip.

Then I remember I also feel bad how Britain has died a slow, painful death under her reign and caretaking. The country is a fucking joke now, and Elizabeth was head of the circus.

Now Elizabeth's watch has ended, Good old "Liz" Truss will now be heading the clown show.

I really do hate the cult of personality/pedophilia the UK royals have built around themselves. Not to mention the Queen's country is going through inflation and recession, unchecked immigration and the serfs freezing in the coming winter. Yet all the UK is going to cry because she's the figurehead they've know all their lives.

Call me harsh but can you really call her reign glorious when it's turned out like this. I have no love or respect for her, so maybe Charles will shake things up.

It was kind of hard to hate her given that while being born an ultra wealthy girl into the British Royal Family she was actually a mechanic during WW2 and knew how to replace a water pump on a Land Rover. Her offspring, except for Princess Anne, are absolutely useless though. Also she liked doggos, particularly Black Labs and corgis but apparently hated American mutts.

A lot of people die soon after a spouse that passed away in a long lived marriage and I suspected she´d be one of those. Prince Phillip clearly was her rock and given that cunt Markle and Andrew making her last couple of years miserable she probably felt it was time, given that Prince William and Kate have a stable marriage and three healthy kids.

She probably didn't want to see WW3. Can't blame her.

Most Twitter anti-colonialists couldn't name 3 countries England actually colonized (and not just because they're robots.) Most of them probably don't even know that England dismantled their slave trade long before the United States, or that places like India have modern infrastructure exclusively because of the English holding them as a prized territory for so long, or Africa being somewhat livable in certain regions thanks to English companies.
Compare the English colonies to almost any other colonial power and it will be almost uniformly favorable. Almost any former English colony was left with solid infrastructure, a functioning legal system based on common law, and a legacy they generally kept. The few cases that didn't (think Rhodesia) ended up disastrously.

By comparison, other colonial powers, think the Dutch, Belgians, French, Spanish, etc. left absolute ruins behind, where the only reason there were any roads or infrastructure at all was to rape the shit out of the country. So you'll have a single highway from the coast to whatever strip mine operation they ran, a port to take the schwag out, and that's it.
