PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Many questions remain after a driver steered his car through a crowd of protesters Saturday as they started hitting his car.

The incident at SW 4th and Salmon happened during a protest for Patrick Kimmons, a man shot to death by Portland police September 30. Kimmons, 27, was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died. "A gun was recovered near Mr. Kimmons, and multiple firearms were recovered in the area of the crime scene," officials said October 1.

The demonstrators gathered in the streets to demonstrate against police using deadly force.

During that demonstration, a man driving a silver Lexus drove through the crowd. He had a green light to make the turn but the walk sign was on for the crosswalk. Protesters began hitting his car and someone got in front of the Lexus.

Video captured by Brandon Farley shows the driver inching forward, getting clear and driving away quickly. He stopped less than a block away, got out, looked at the damage to his car quickly, then got back in as protesters arrived and again began hitting his car.

The driver, who spoke with KOIN 6 News but did not want to go on-camera, said he got out of his car earlier and asked protesters to move. But, he said, they grabbed him. He got back into the car, which is when they began beating on his car and smashed his driver's side window.

The person in front of the car was trying to lift up the front end as the driver was trying to get out of the area.

The driver said there is $3000 damage to his car. He called the police to file a report after he left the area, which police confirmed.

KOIN 6 News has not been able to talk with any of the protesters who were in that area at that time.

No one has filed a police report against the driver, and no charges of any kind have been filed at this point.

PPB Sgt. Chris Burley said officers were monitoring the protest. Asked why police didn't step in when protesters went into the streets and affected traffic, Burley said the bureau "weighs the ability for people to gather to practice their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly, as well as the impact it places on the rest of the Portland community. Throughout this event the police bureau was monitoring the crowd."

Anyone with direct knowledge of this incident is asked to contact Portland police.

There's not going to be much of the States left to peacefully protest if someone doesn't start telling the mayors to let the police do their fucking jobs no matter who peacefully protests.

Portland Antifa wanted to find him, they did, then they doxxed him.

No action by twitter, no action by the police so far.

I'm pretty sure that if he didn't escape the way he did, he would have been beaten to death. Antifa loves attacking the old and the weak. When they tangle with folks like the Proud Boys they always lose. But the old? Vets in wheelchairs? Women? They are fair game.

I watched the videos on this and I loved the irony of a white protester screaming at white drivers for being white.

Another video discussing the event on Tucker Carlson. The interview with the :

The interview with the uploader starts at about 5:33.

It's a pain in the ass to drive in downtown Portland without shitty college kids blocking the roads. The areas in the video are particularly high traffic too.

Do these idiots not realize that the they're just telling people that the next time you see people on the road protesting like this, don't even bother slowing down, they'll just take your license plate and kill you later?
What am I saying? of course not.

Send in the national guard and disband the fucking police departments if they won't or can't do their jobs.

So antifa is basically just trying to get people to run over some of them, right? Because the only time they got any sympathy was after they scared someone into running one of them down, and the media happily went along with the false alt right nazi narrative.

Even then they didn't lose someone from getting hit by a car. That Heather Meyer (sp?) chick at the UTR rally was a hamplanet who had a heart attack from all the excitement -- not getting hit by the Charger.

"Protesters began hitting his car"

That should automatically just give drivers the right-of-way to run down people who do this because it's a threat of violence.

Given that even in Portland they haven't tried to charge the driver, I think it basically does. Fleeing is a response to violence that even Canada accepts.

The police chief of Portland is a black woman so take that how you will.

I’m fairly certain the council is telling her to lay off the Antifa protestors after the last riot they started with Proud Boys.

The mayor is also the police commissioner so we've got soy on both ends basically.
