saddening to see that faust is centered around defense, i liked her in the official reveal the most.

I have to disagree, a defense based EGO is exactly with Mao Adapt Faust needs. She doesn't care about skills besides her Defense Skill and Skill 3. It has rupture synergy. heals on skill use and on passive, which helps Mao Faust be topped off and not retreated by Lord of Hongyuan Hong Lu’s defense skill. Hardened Shell-Barrier makes her defensive skills clash better while also providing protection if she loses the clash.
The downside of her only retaining Hardened Shell if Command: Meltdown isn't even a problem as since this takes up Fluid Sack’s Mao Faust won't have any other EGO she’ll want to use.
It is remarkably well tailored towards working with Mao Faust. In fact I think they designed it with Faust in mind in order to increase the appeal of pulling her. Oh yeah, and her corrosion is good as well but only really for the later floors of MD where she can make use of it properly, even then I think she's prefer to defend but it’ll help most with dealing with those annoying one-shot kill counters on later floors as the bonus damage effect seems to be made to answer that.
On the visual note, I disliked her's the most. What I feared is that all of the EGOs would be the Sinner dressing in cosplay, the operator appears, and then they do a combo attack. Luckily only Faust's is like that.
On the other EGOs
How is everyone feeling about the kits?
Tidal Elegy Ishamel seemed designed to work with Molar Boatworks, but honestly it’s just a sidegrade to Christmas Nightmare. It doesn't add anything to Sinking Count and is three coin so it isn't made to work with Spicebush, and Spicebrush also probably wants to build up Tremor faster, so this really won't out seat Christmas Nightmare on that team. Although it’ll probably be fine in Lament Yi Sang based teams since it’s an ego based around pumping out tons of gloom damage.
The passive is rather nice as well, it's a worse version of Regret Meursault's passive, but that passive is entirely cracked so it's not like Tidal Elegy’s passive is bad. Also it has an additional effect stapled on to help Xichin Ishamel, which is fine I guess.
The Corrosion is fine, the blunt damage doesn't really help out Sinking teams that much, but it's not bad.
To Remain One’s self seems okay, pretty good. I'm guessing there's a typo here since as written he doesn't have a way to retain Thunderer over turns, but this model type of EGO that gets stronger in exchange for you using it over multiple turns seems interesting.
His passive giving him more damage over an encounter is nice.
But I think his high point is the Corrosion. It gives count and potency, gains attack weight, coin power, and base power based on Thunderer, and deals extra damage in the form of Pride Sin Affinity Damage.
Unbrilliant Glory seems very interesting. Although I'm a bit disappointed that our first example of Abnormality Synchronization comes in the form of a collab EGO. The tremor stuff is kind of weird since Gregor doesn't really have a strong Tremor ID yet, but that doesn't bring it down. But Scabbard, even if it makes out at 2 Protection, is good. Protection is a ridiculously and there's a reason we've seen so little of it.
In fact you can ignore the incandescent version of this EGO and just use it for Scabbard and it's still good. He gains Scabbard passively, it also gives him Aggro which makes him better at meeting the conditions to gain more. Not to mention his passive allows him to ignore his first stagger threshold.
Whenever or if-ever a Zewi West ID comes out for Gregor, this is the EGO he will want to use. In place of that this EGO also, incidentally, is what Priest Gregor wants. It allows him to ignore his one Stagger threshold, makes him more survivable, and works hand in hand with Bloodied Hand to give him a source of scaling protection and insane damage nuke skill that doesn't eat up all of this stacks of BH over 10.
Oh yeah and the Corrosion is probably the worst one here since it gives defense level up on an attacking skill. Although I guess it's fine for Solos.
