Red chamber is a snapshot of Chinese feudal life and is structured like a slice of life Greek tragedy. It’s a lot easier to understand than Don Quixote for a Hangook, which is fucking impenetrable for anyone who doesn’t work in corporate or under the heel of the spanish aristocracy. Ironically, "Vampire going against his own nature" is probably the best modern portrayal of Don Quixote I'm aware of.

Also not to red chamber sperg but the book was always Buddhism rocks, you just chose the version with fanfiction, which is like if you put a scene at the end of Jacob’s ladder where the end is revealed to be another dream and he’s totally fine and the whole movie was pointless. I personally believe the author intended to not to wrap everything up in a bow because the story leaves off exactly where it said it would at the start. You know what's going to happen, and you know HL is totally fucked. Then the fanfiction comes in and ruins it.

People miss that red chamber is a bit like catcher in the rye. There's 3-4 different layers going on,

I have high expectations but only for crazy drama because it’s such a beloved piece of Chinese lit
I disagree, Don Quixote premise is so simple you can basically translate it to any human society, basically someone in middle class consumes so much slop he thinks he is living in it. The historic setting itself can be gleamed from 2 minute read on Wikipedia, but I'm pretty sure you could probably understand it by context.

On the other hand there is no fucking way that Red Chamber isn't the usual Chinese shit with hundreds of similar named characters that need to live by code of conduct only people versed in the time period will understand

Don an aristocratic landlord, a lot of the things he fights are basically a boomer screaming at computers. You can understand that it’s a 16th century lolcow and miss why someone in his station would believe a mill is a man eating giant.

Red Chamber really isn’t that bad all things considered. Theres like 12 people that mattered and if your translation is good (main characters have transliterated names) it’s pretty easy to track. It’s no Water Margin where a character will be called “Blue water goddess” and it’s 1 of 7 scheming eunachs.

hehe fucking love solos

I'd add that he's a really petty aristocratic landlord, and his conflict is more about reading so many knight fiction books that he thinks that's reality. It's not really screaming about computers (unless you mean in a schitzo way) since pretty much everyone else besides Sancho knows those are fiction. Though people ignore in the first book that, while Don's magical and grand battles are a fiction, the idea of chivalry and adventure still present and his quest has actually improved the lives of multiple people.

The May 8th update had some info-worthy things datamined, gonna spoiler it ofcourse for people who don't want to see what might get shown on friday:
New ID tags for Don Quixote and Gregor (That's right! Gregor is actually gonna get a 6th Canto season ID because why not, right?)
Hong Lu's sprite sheet got replaced with a bigger one that has more deadspace (prep for his new canto expressions)
Nothing new regarding EGOs

Small heads up, El Director is currently trying his best to streaming, and having a quick look he appears to be going through a Mirror Dungeon while talking about some stuff for the upcoming chapter 8 / season 6 (including the trailer), can't personally watch right now but if anyones interested its there to have a look at

Am I the only one who thinks the trailer looks mid

I'm just happy we got more Heishou IDs right away instead of a random group of Fixers from some faction another Jia Hierarch candidate is leading. And wtih Si Gregor finally being a Gregor ID where his arm is atleast marginally fucked up because I'm tired of El Director not being creative with giving Gregor a weird/fucked up arm for his IDs.

My interpretation of why this is, is because Yi Sang was neglecting himself in N corp to the point that he completely atrophied.
yi sang was so sickly and dead (or gregor potential locked) he transformed all the sinners into normal people

i like heir gregor has a normal arm but he resents it so hes one handed. Iirc theres more "Normal" arm gregors then unique creative arms, i think priest gregor has the best of both worlds a really fucked up normal arm

wonder if these packs are meant to take the place of the servant girls in DoTRC. It would be very in spirit with the original works

No fanfare, just info, stats for Si Branch Gregor & Rodion are out
I imagine Rodya will be count neutral at best, or slightly count negative for her S2 (especially with the coin reuse), while her S3 will be count negative if it only hits a single enemy. Devyat Rodya may still be preferable on a boss with only one part to target when focusing on a rupture stack. but Si will edge her out when it comes to fights with multiple targets or if the boss has ways to mitigate status stacking or efficacy. But if the Maos were anything to go by, they'll both be pretty monstrous in the direct damage department.

In General: Poise Rupture units that gain coin power on self Poise potency and targets Rupture potency, as well as inflicting Offense/Defense level down when critting a target that has Rupture

Rodya looks like fun with the mass attack s3, I might have to finally make a Rupture team

I'm 50/50 on these kits. They seem neat, but rupture is extremely demanding on IDs, and I don't see a lot of count in their kits

The current "meta" rupture team would be:

Mao Ryoshu: S1 is count neutral on clash win, S2 & 3 are count neutral / positive on clash win & at speed. She also just does ludicrous damage.

Mao Outis: S2 is always at least neutral, positive when unopposed. S3 is positive when at speed and unopposed. Also just does ludicrous damage, and has Ebony Stem.

Cinq West Meursault: S2 can prime a rupture stack when at speed, and at 15&3 he's completely count neutral.

Devyat South Rodion: Can prime 15&3 with her S3 and Talisman. S1&2 are neutral when at 15&3. Also just does ludicrous damage, and is extremely bulky

Lantern Don: S1 is count positive, S3 is count neutral, and S2 ~can~ be count positive, but is better used just priming a stack. Also picks up Talisman after Rodion, making her a potency monster.

The 6th slot is a float, but I usually use Lantern Yi Sang. He doesn't need to win clashes to do damage, he can prep a stack on death, and he can stack aggro to create a "push" turn.

I can see Gregor probably replacing Yi Sang, as pride is important now in Rupture for Ebony Stem. I don't know if Si Rodion will be able to beat out Devyat Rodion though. Either way, don't pull for them, as we're late for a Walpurgisnacht.
