Over 100GB of live Genesis bootlegs and unreleased studio material dating from 1973 through 2007 has just been leaked. If you're interested, grab them ASAP as the torrent has already been shut down.

EDIT: now that link has been shut down too. Bugger. Will keep my eyes open for another link.

EDIT EDIT: there's a playlist on YouTube featuring all the bootlegs. Grab those while you can.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: now that YT playlist is gone too. Am kicking myself for not PreserveTubing that shit. I don't remember seeing such heavy-handed attempts by (((rightsholders))) to shut an artist's bootlegs down. Unless it's on Soulseek or someone uploads it to Rutracker (bless those Russians and their attitude to copyright), these could prove challenging to find.
Do you still have the torrent/magnet?

Edit: Im retarded and didn't read 2 posts below. This works perfectly:

To get the link, you'll need to use an online magnet link generator and paste 26c8170ad8afea5bb877c8c07f1c4906c41f6c09 into the infohash box. Open the generated magnet file in your BT client and there you are.

Definitely not prog, but sure is artsy and autistic. Talking Heads' pre-Remain in Light albums, especially the first one, speak to me like nothing else, probably thanks to David Byrne's spergy pedestrian lyricism and the raw feel which fizzled out later on.

Now if this was a post-punk/early New Wave thread I could talk your ear off, but I do enjoy some Talking Heads (all of it, actually). Artists Only is a great track, but More Songs About Buildings and Food is a nice album to put on.

But since this is the prog thread, I am a basic bitch, I love all of Wish You were Here, and the Live at Pompeii version of Echoes is wonderful to listen to, very funky.

Also to whoever made the thread sponsor banner, looks very nice!

To be fair it was a developing situation at the time, with the rightsholders playing whack-a-mole every time a bootleg from this leak was uploaded somewhere easily accessible.

Glad to hear the magnet link still works.

Would the fine people of this thread consider Jeff Wayne's the War of the Worlds a prog rock album?
I mean yeah. I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a good prog rock album, it’s too disco for my tastes. It’s like two steps below Starcastle.

That's a fair assesment.

I still like it a lot, though.

I have the vinyl LP and listen to it a lot.

I like Eloy

Beat me to it, although I like them more when the keyboards are more in focus than the guitars. Their last two albums were good even if they don't hold a candle to their 70s work.

Haven't seen these guys mentioned yet but Fren is one of the best 70s prog revival groups in a while.

Ciccada is also one of those hidden gems bands that mix greek folk with eclectic prog.

Just noticed that they recently did a cover of Aphrodite's Child's Four Horsemen that is quite good as well.

Given that Aphrodite's hasn't been mentioned here still, as might as well post some of it too.

And finally, another two Camel songs that are my absolute favorites and that haven't been posted here yet

I just found out about them late last year. Remember the Future is now one of my favorite albums ever.

It's basic bitch, but Proclamation is just *so* good. One of those songs where I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it.

Shout outs to Knots for being so absurdly silly and complex

I think I like Three Friends better than In a Glass House, but The Runaway is just such a banger

While Phish doesn't go under the category of a prog rock band, they do have some songs in their discography that do use a certain structure that is similar to what most long prog songs/albums use. For example:
Fluffhead/Fluff's Travels
Time Turns Elastic
Their 1993 album, Rift is a concept album about a man dreaming about the "rift" between him and his girlfriend
(just putting the title track here, please do listen to the full album, it's really good)
Finally, guitarist Trey Anastasio's senior college thesis The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, aka Gamehendge (represented through their 2023 NYE performance of it, last one being performed in 1994)

I'm really still not sure what constitutes being prog rock, as I never really thought of ELO as prog but it seems like a lot of yall do. I'd be curious to know what your specific definition of what prog is, and what songs I've got here are or aren't progressive.
The Chameleons - Swamp Thing
Asia - Only Time Will Tell
Blind Faith - Presence of the Lord
The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin

I had more ridiculous examples but I just think by and large sub genres can become quite silly. Anyways go listen to thick as a brick

Excellent drumming on this one

White Mist - The Pineapple Thief

Top Bottom
