I haven't really gave much notice to this thread before, but I feel compelled to read through it properly now.
Lately, I've been seeing minors on twitter pop up here and there, with their pages full of pro-anorexia and pro-self harm content. Even photos of their own self harm scars - clearly recently cut, still bleeding.
Minors. That's the part that makes me sad. Where on earth did this start for them? I'm guessing it's a strange way of them turning a horrible thing around and trying to cope with it. It's jarring seeing chibi little anime girl art alongside minors praising each others open wounds and showing off their jutting ribs like 'omg bestieee great job <<<333'.
I seen small hints of it back on tumblr years ago, but back then the blogs were all dark, gritty, monochrome imagery and maybe some scene/emo vibes thrown in I guess. It feels like now it's went into the realm of glorification and 'cute-ifying' it.
It is so, so clearly counterproductive for these people to be around others who egg on their unhealthy habits.
Kept up with the Eugenia Cooney stuff for a while, but not so much now other than being surprised she's still alive whenever I see her mentioned. I'm sure if I read more into the comments I'd find these people all over the place. I have no idea how someone like Eugenia even walks around - I miss my meals for a day and feel weak and miserable, nevermind starving yourself for years on end.
