For years, I’ve given my body to the struggle against police brutality. On multiple occasions, I came within feet of giving my life. When George Floyd was murdered, I was horrified. For months and months, I’ve been demanding justice…praying with my feet if you will. Thus, I expected to be overjoyed if a guilty verdict was reached. I wasn’t.

Let there be no doubt, Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. The verdicts are correct. Yet, the outcome didn’t feel like progress…it felt sad. As people started to celebrate, my eyes remained glued to the man being led away in handcuffs. I couldn’t figure out why. I prayed for God to release me from whatever was going on with my soul. The reply was clearer than anything I’ve ever heard in my life. While you’re praying for everyone else who’s been effected by this senseless tragedy, pray for Derek Chauvin.

I was overwhelmed. I didn’t have enough strength for such things. I just wanted to be done with all of it. I didn’t really want to give another second of my life to Derek Chauvin. In my moments of resistance, I remembered the words…

“…love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…”

Jesus couldn’t have been clearer.

“…love Derek Chauvin and pray for Derek Chauvin…”

I realized anew that the journey to true justice was always going to flow through the redemption of those who perpetuate injustice. You can’t hate your way to wholeness. In fact…

“…hate for hate only intensifies the existence of hate and evil in the universe. If I hit you and you hit me and I hit you back and you hit me back and go on, you see, that goes on ad infinitum. It just never ends. Somewhere somebody must have a little sense, and that’s the strong person. The strong person is the person who can cut off the chain of hate, the chain of evil. And that is the tragedy of hate, that it doesn’t cut it off. It only intensifies the existence of hate and evil in the universe. Somebody must have religion enough and morality enough to cut it off and inject within the very structure of the universe that strong and powerful element of love.”

This is no time to celebrate the destruction of an enemy. This is a time to press into the work of revolution…one in which love will finally break the cycle of hate. Let’s end police brutality now. While you’re praying for everyone else who’s been effected by this senseless tragedy, pray for Derek Chauvin.

Amen.

Oh wow, you don't know your side at all. The sole goal of the revolution is the complete destruction of the enemy. And next up against the wall are those that pray for the enemy. You better get all that religious mumbo jumbo out of your head.

The writer of this article literally wrote Biblical fanfiction (archive) about George Floyd:
Early on the morning after the burial, a group of activists went to the tomb of George Floyd and found the casket dug up and opened. While they were confused, a couple of angels appeared and said, “Do not look for the living amongst the dead. George is not here. George has risen!” Immediately, the activists remembered God’s promises. The group of activists ran back to tell all the others. Nobody believed them. So, they all ran to the tomb and saw for themselves. Amazed, the activists grew more excited with each passing second.

While they were protesting, George Floyd came up from behind and started talking with three activists. Not realizing who he was, the activists started to talk about their pain and heartbreak over George’s death, “There was no reason for any of this. Some people say there is a message of hope to be found in his death. We find such things difficult to believe.” When they got to the end of the protest, the three disciples urged George to have dinner with them. After they started eating, the activists recognized George and he disappeared. Speaking to one another, they said, “How did we not recognize him? Were our hearts not burning within us?” The activists ran to the others and told them, “George has risen!”

While they were still talking, George Floyd appeared and greeted them all warmly. Everyone was terrified and thought he was a ghost. One even shit in her pants. Sensing their fear, George invited them to come and feel were the knee pressed down on his neck. Everyone touched and knew that it was him. While they sat there stunned, George asked, “Do you have anything to eat?” Since there was no food in the house, the disciples ordered some pizzas and had them delivered. Later, munching on a slice of pizza, George said, “I told you justice can never die. You are witnesses of what has happened. Feel the power of God come over you. Go…tell the world…tell them that justice lives.”

Then, George Floyd led them back outside. As he slowly disappeared, he promised that his spirit would remain with them forever. Immediately, they knew that he was telling the truth…for they could feel love burning eternally in their hearts.

He also wrote a screed (archive) about Daunte Wright--whose name he misspells eight times--fuck the police (six times), and how we have to punish Kim Potter, but out of love. He imagines he is the tyrant in the famous C. S. Lewis quote: "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

Derek Chauvin is an asshole, like Floyd. Same went for Zimmerman and Martin. Sometimes it's just one asshole fighting another asshole and neither deserve defending.

No, just a bunch of His followers. Loving your enemies should never prevent you for seeing justice done or protecting yourself.
Tell that to the early martyrs. The early church had to start a lottery system for martyrdom as people kept going out to commit suicide by Roman authorities / angry mob as a ticket to salvation. It didn’t always work. Religion brings out the crazy in people sometimes.

This was the same Jesus running around the temple grounds flipping tables and beating the everliving fuck out of everyone with a scourge, right? Or do I have the wrong Messiah?
That was always my favorite part of the story. You’re given a massive role in man’s most direct connection with the divine, and what do you do with it? You commercialize it. Make a quick buck in the temple itself; and then when your god in the flesh shows up he cannot muster anything but rage at the sight. Shitty navel gazing articles like this probably aren’t that different in the end. Moral trappings in service of utter perversion.

Protestantism was a mistake

Anyway, does this fuckwad have a thread yet?

It might be worth to bring back this thread from the dead with this news. Chauvin still have some guts left in his tank and seems then he have nothing to lose.

Chauvin to ask Supreme Court to review conviction in George Floyd murder

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, plans to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review his conviction after Minnesota’s top court declined to hear the case this week.

Chauvin’s attorney, William Mohrman, told The Associated Press that they were “obviously disappointed” in the Minnesota Supreme Court’s decision on Tuesday.

Mohrman said the biggest issue they appealed was whether Chauvin was denied a fair trial in 2021 when the case was held in Minneapolis. The attorney cited the pretrial publicity that came with the case and potential for violence if Chauvin had been acquitted.

Chauvin’s legal representation plans to raise that issue before the U.S. Supreme Court.

“This criminal trial generated the most amount of pretrial publicity in history,” Morhman told the AP. “More concerning are the riots which occurred after George Floyd’s death (and) led the jurors to all express concerns for their safety in the event they acquitted Mr. Chauvin — safety concerns which were fully evidenced by surrounding the courthouse in barbed wire and National Guard troops during the trial and deploying the National Guard throughout Minneapolis prior to jury deliberations.”

If only niggers actually took MLK's word here to heart. Whites certainly did, the level of racism in the average white person has plummeted since 1970. We went through every way we could to treat blacks better than they had previously. It seemed to be working too, until around 10 years ago.

Racism is like an open wound that is constantly being scratched open, and it isn't whites who are doing the scratching.

Oh god I hope they review it and order his kangaroo ape court conviction overturned. The reactions will be glorious.

He didn't murder Floyd, Floyd died while in police custody, and using one of the dumbest fucking laws imagined (felony murder); the fault of murder is thrown onto Chauvin (and the three others).

Maybe they were being judged by the conduct of the character. Or maybe realizing the feds would deploy the airborne and point their rifles at high-school students to enforce integration; their animal brain realized that they could act however they wanted, because the suits in Washington would tell whitey to sit down and shut up. Add in the gasoline of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and "President" Lyndon "We'll have those niggers voting Democrat for 200 years" Johnson; and well... of course the conduct of their character doesn't need to be examined, whitey is fucking evil or something *smacks lips*.
