stick 'em in the ground, stick 'em in a bag, 'ell, you can even stick chunks in the compost and they'll grow.
in all actuality if youre somewhere where it gets cold in the winter then planting them in fall for an earlier harvest works really well. you'll them in the ground when the ground is cold enough for them to hibernate, but obviously before the ground freezes. if not then get them in the ground as early as possible in spring. thye'll grow in any half decent soil. keep 'em watered. that's literally it.
