If nothing else I find it amusing how many people who want to legalize cannabis also want to restrict tobacco and other drugs that are already legal.

- most dangers to health can be eliminated by changing how the THC is administered and having it according to clean, pharmaceutical standards
 
I'm really against criminalizing shit, but my god I hate legalized pot culture. People self medicate with it, and act as if they're treating their problems.

My old job there was a coworker who would smoke regularly (yes the boss was ok with it) and have crying/mental breakdowns on the regular but INSISTED it wasn't the pot doing it and that the pot was helping her.
Knew a woman with BPD that became an absolute cunt when high on weed. She would post paranoid shit about her family members on public spaces when high.
Every stoner I've met is a douchebag-- and very irritable.
But noooo, weed alway chills people out, do not question weed. Weed is perfect.

Fuck the weed industry pretending to be a medical industry. I hate seeing billboards for dispensaries.

Oh and had a friend develop schizophrenia in his 20s after smoking pot. Eventually killed themselves.

It's not a harmless drug, and I'm reaaally sick of people pretending it is.

I love these type of chicks.
I met like 5 that went super-paranoid, thought they were dying, having heart attacks and more when on weed.
I never laughed as hard as watching them pace around the room thinking aloud about calling the cops or the hospital only to make a run for the window "I'm suffocating I'm dying aaaaaaah" and having to hold her dumass back so she doesn't seppuku accidentally or something.

If alcohol is legal, I have to be ok with weed being legal.
I just really hate stoners. I think its beyond stupid that people bond over it like it's a fucking hobby. "Hey man, you like talk like a retard and park in the middle of a road? Me too!"

making alcohol illegal is doomed to fail because you can't ever control its precursors. you can't ban or control the sale of starches and sugars because those are essential foods. potatoes, sugarcane, sugar beets, wheat, rice, and all other grains and fruits, they can all be made into alcohol. so unless you think you can force your whole society to go on a zero carb diet forever, you can't get rid of the means of alcohol production.

with weed this is different, it comes from one specific plant that also has virtually zero legitimate uses (no, 'medical' marijuana does not count) so justifying and enforcing a ban on it would be relatively easy.

When Oklahoma legalized medical marijuana a while back like 3 dispensaries opened virtually overnight in a town of like 6000, it was surreal to see it happen so quick. I don't think weed should be illegal, it contributes to retarded kids getting into the culture and destroying themselves because they perceive it as forbidden fruit, and the less of that the better I say.
 
from a societal standpoint, I think drugs are a lot like murder. it is actually possible to use them judiciously in a way that is not socially destructive, and may actually be socially constructive (i.e. alcohol as a social lubricant). however, the vast majority of people are not qualified to make these kinds of bigger-picture judgments on their own and will in fact become incredibly socially destructive given the chance, because they don't have the mental horsepower to predict the consequences of their actions, nor the moral integrity to care, beyond the immediate desire for self-gratification. this is one reason why violence is so heavily proscribed generally. and although I understand why certain drugs are legal from a utilitarian standpoint, I can't help but think about the horrible history my own family has with alcohol, of all the violent and abusive drunks across the generations who have fucked up their kids, of all the times family ties were frayed and broken by people getting drunk and screaming at each other at gatherings, of the several people killed or permanently maimed by drunk drivers for no reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. weed is not uniformly bad but it is a social peril, and stoners, like alcoholics, are people who have fallen to that peril. the physical and psychological facts of that addiction and the degree to which its sufferers are socially destructive differs, sure. but it remains a peril just the same.

a friend of mine who is a former Weed Enjoyer once told me that weed is insidious because it makes you okay with doing nothing. he also attributes it as a major factor of why certain poor people, especially minorities, just stay poor and never seem to get the motivation to climb the ladder. I think about that a lot.

I smoke weed and I've never wanted it to be legal for all of the reasons why it's made society just a little worse after legalization. The gray market had better weed, it wasn't a thing people did as openly, it turned into a quality problem with the dispensaries on every street corner, and the market instantly saturated itself, leading to the quickest boom and subsequent bust arc I've seen in any industry. It made weed way too cheap to even buy or sell outside of a dispensary, so it wholly eliminated the gray market. I don't know if that's good or bad, overall.

"Weed people" are the worst, too. They're like a trashier wine snob, and their constant need to get high bothers me. I love inhaling THC as much as the next guy, but you've gotta have a life too. Stoners are pathetic and almost get groomy with how disappointed they are that you don't want to hit a joint while you're on the clock.

That being said, the one upshot is that the tax revenue bump it gave to some of the smaller towns in the region is undeniable and it lifted a lot of towns out of poverty. The lowest income incorporated community in the state doesn't look like it's been recovering from a town-wide fire for the past 120 years anymore, and that's pretty huge.
 
I'm one of those that most people wouldn't suspect of smoking large quantities of weed on a regular basis. Like most, I also maintain a strict distance between my professional life and personal life.

I don't give a shit about consumers who can't cope with drugs, all I know is that I can cope and I enjoy smoking weed and consuming edibles. In my younger days it was ecstasy, LSD, ketamine and weed/hash (coke on occasion, but not the best drug out there). Although I've calmed down over the years as I'm married now and getting too old for debauch weekenders.

Weed should be decriminalised/legalised in the UK because it's not going away so might as well go the way of NL, US and LoS and have done with it.
