Out of curiosity how long did anatomy studies take you when you first started them? I've done gesture drawings and specific subjects (hands, faces) but have always been skittish with full anatomical studies because of the time investment. My studies in the last seven days. I think I'm slowly getting accustomed to most muscles. The longer I draw them the more I recognize them under people's skin °v°

Head too big, I know. It's always the head.
The last one took me just about 3 hours this time. Maybe less. I hope that continues like this. Planning to add colour to my daily sketches in about a month and getting into that whole mess :>
Also, hell, you all are talented. Sorry for what happened to you, Joseph. That's a horrible way to break up with anyone. But it's good that you are still here and finding methods to cope with your emotions. Writing/talking and drawing's probably more constructive than the other attempt, though, as nice as it is, maybe it'd be good to not forget the nature of this site either. Not saying anyone would use that against you, just, be careful with what you share out here
That's hard to say actually. It really wasn't all that planned when I started and also still isn't, so my schedule sorta varies. Though, during my first week, I think it didn't take much longer than three hours for a pose. I remember it was more about getting the expression of the figure right rather than the anatomical details. Especially when I upped it to two poses per day, and then at the end of the week to one pose and two faces. I tried to not spend longer than three hours on everything and often also just spent two.Out of curiosity how long did anatomy studies take you when you first started them? I have the same problem, but the opposite side. I need to do a good effort to make characters look masculine. But with practise you will discover small things that help define feminine and masculine faces, like the jawline starting slightly above the mouth for men and slightly below the mouth for women. Some of my women unfortunately suffer from man-face.I draw too many guys and not enough ladies!
Anatomy is a constant for me and even if i know i'm getting better, there is still a lot of work to do before i can draw something without reference. But i will say the best way to do anatomy studies is with a bit of practise, since getting to see the shape of what you are trying to draw is probably the most important part. Once good exercise i did time ago was to draw my own hand without looking back to the paper, just following the shape of your hand with your eyes.Out of curiosity how long did anatomy studies take you when you first started them?
