Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Heck of an opening day for Oaks Park! (archive)

28 people rescued after getting stuck upside down on Oaks Park ride

People on the ride "AtmosFear" said they were stuck upside down for about 25 to 30 minutes, and one was hospitalized. AtmosFear will be closed until further notice.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland firefighters rescued dozens of people trapped upside down on a ride at Oaks Park Friday afternoon. Riders on the AtmosFEAR ride said they were stuck for around 25 to 30 minutes, but it felt like hours.

Oaks Park said 28 riders were suspended upside down when the ride stopped around 2:55 p.m. Staff immediately initiated emergency procedures and called 911.

Around 3:25 p.m., Portland Fire and Rescue (PF&R) said the ride had been manually lowered, and all the riders were evacuated and medically evaluated.

"One rider with pre-existing medical conditions was transported to the hospital for further evaluation, out of an abundance of caution," Oaks Park said.

Portland teens Daniel Allen and Jordan Harding were at Oaks Park celebrating their high school graduation. AtmosFEAR was the first ride they went on when they arrived.

"I was excited to go on," Allen said. "When you get stuck up there, I don't think you're so excited anymore."

A ride at Portland's Oaks Park malfunctioned, leaving people stuck dangling upside down for about 15 minutes.

The two were among the people left dangling upside down as the ride malfunctioned. AtmosFEAR is a black-and-blue pendulum that swings from side to side and is intended to stop upside down, but only momentarily before swinging back to its resting position.

Harding said when they stayed upside down for longer than a few seconds, they realized something was wrong.

"We were just freaking out," Harding said. "People were crying. They were just putting into the universe what they wanted to say for their last words."

"I'm not even religious, and I said a prayer. I didn't think I was going to live to see right now," she added.

The teens said hanging upside down for that long was a hard and terrifying experience.

"That position is just so uncomfortable physically," Harding said. "25 minutes. My entire waist below was asleep."

She said she hugged the firefighter who helped her get off the ride when she was rescued.

"Such a relieving feeling," she said. "I'm standing on the ground right now. There was a moment not that long ago that I didn't think that would happen again."

Oaks Park said the ride has been in operation since 2021 and has not had an incident until now. The ride will remain closed until further notice.

PF&R said in a statement Friday evening that one person, who has not been identified, was transported to a hospital for observation "out of an abundance of caution."

Meanwhile, Oaks Park said, "We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the first responders and our staff for taking prompt action, leading to a positive outcome today, and to the rest of the park guests who swiftly followed directions to vacate the park to make way for the emergency responders to attend to the situation. Most of all, we are thankful that the riders are safe and with their families."

The park said it will work with the manufacturer and state inspectors to identify what caused it to stop.
"Any park guest who had their visit cut short today will be extended a refund or opportunity to reschedule their visit," Oaks Park added.

You know, some days I hope that one of them just goes "no, once we get him out of the public we're gonna execute him and say he was reaching for his waistband; what are you gonna do about it?" just to see the flabbergasted look on the chick's face.

The ACAB crowd, like many Portland scum, never think things through. The police represent a monopoly on force, are you gonna challenge that? If you somehow manage to get them to leave / defund them, what takes their place? Sometimes if I have a few drinks I'll mess with people on this one if they bring it up, like "yeah I hope the cops fuck off so I can grab a gun and start looting" and they start nervous laughing and you go "I mean, who's gonna stop me at that point? nobody around here likes guns anyway" and they start even more nervously laughing.

It's not even the police involved, it's some internet pedo hunter. The woman walks over assuming he's harassing a homeless person then says the line quoted above before leaving.

Hilarious enough that I'd wonder if they faked her intervention for more clicks.

Normally I’d be cynical and suspicious it’s all fake and gay too, but this is Portland, where Tumblr became a tulpa and took up residence. I absolutely believe this bitch was real. I’ve seen and interacted with people like her here.

I don’t want it to get better. I want the next encampment fire to incinerate the entire forsaken cesspit into cremated remains and those ashes to be incorporated as a National Park in testament to Man’s arrogance.

Tangentially related since this is from an Oregon city/supreme court case.

Sadly Oregon already passed a law codifying Martin v Boise which makes this ruling less useful then one would hope.

Which I guess means there may be some improvement, but it may be limited.
Lol the leftists in Portland will cry and scream if the police start cracking skulls so nothing will change.

They've already started sweeping up tents and banning long term parking on streets that were previously packed with run down campers. The main result I've seen as consequence has been more people sleeping in cars on neighborhood streets.

I've always held the theory that if every major city rolled through with mobile homeless incinerator vans and chucked all six million homeless people in there, the bleeding heart libs would manage to keep up their kvetching about "MUH HOOMAN RIGHTS ABOOSES" for all of 2 weeks before shutting up about it and never bringing it up again, secretly relieved they no longer have to pretend to be jazzed about hurdling over 20 fenties on the way to work.

Whatever you need to do to make that plan happen, start doing it. I’ve gone from being sympathetic to the homeless to TOTAL HOMELESS DEATH!!! over the past few years of dealing with their bullshit.

The more time you are forced to spend around the homeless the less sympathy you will have for them. Most of them aren't just sad schizos discarded by society they are hard drug users who refuse to get clean. I've personally had a weapon pulled on me by a bum, I've had friends who saw a bum shit right Infront of their work outside the front window, friends who have been chased by the homeless, overtime you just stop sympathizing with them and start to resent them. If you would have asked me 10 years ago about how I felt about the homeless I would have given you a completely different response then today.

There's also the huge unspoken truth about the homeless I'm sure many of you are aware of that many actively CHOOSE to stay on the streets so they can continue to abuse hard drugs. Homeless shelters obviously do not allow you to use hard drugs in them and will kick you out for it. They would rather be high then have shelter. "But maybe the fentanyl users are afraid of withdrawal!" methadone programs exist in every major city in the US.

I have to wonder when we’ll see a city or a charity dedicate themselves to a policy of “let em rot”. Didn’t Mother Theresa have something like a “home for the dying” where people would just stay and let nature and God decide if they kick the bucket or not?

A depressing reddit thread on the state of child protective services and their "equity" policies that allow them to ignore abuse against black children:

Could not help but notice the anti-white capitalization shit journalists do going on in this comment. Black is capitalized for no reason while white is lower case. White liberals hate themselves so much (or pretend to for asspats)

Even the ones who are deeply mentally ill (other than addiction) haven't really been discarded by society - how do you help that person if they refuse treatment? Do you make it legal to forcibly medicate them, which may require a prolonged stay at a facility to diagnose how best to do so? Most people still think of mental institutions in terms of uncaring staff throwing them in rooms to rot for hours at a time, or beating them into submission (when everyone knows that's just nursing homes).

Even pre-COVID, when I worked out of an office downtown regularly, my interactions with the homeless were enough to teach me that it's 80% MINIMUM hard drug addicts who just want to abuse in peace. They're just panhandling or fencing stolen candy bars for cash, so they can buy more drugs, they don't need a meal because there are TONS of kitchens that will serve them. That was even before you had the entire country's worth of junkies moving out here so they could shoot up in a tent on the sidewalk and not have the cops round them up, and my brief trips downtown since then have all confirmed for me that it's gotten way worse. I can only imagine if I was one of the poor suckers whose firms insisted they come back into the downtown office; I left my last job before then, but heard from some coworkers that management pulled that and it led to a LOT of discontent and turnover.
