I and many others grew up playing PopCap's amazing casual games during the 2000s. These games are so good that they've managed to attract people outside of the casual sphere that would otherwise be considered "hardcore gamers."

While these games have continued to last the test of time and even attract new audiences, PopCap itself has been declining over the past decade due to corporate greed (probably influenced by EA after their buyout); with Peggle being gutted and the rest of their franchises being left to dust while Plants vs. Zombies remains their golden child (which has also been declining).

While PopCap continues to go down the gutter, their older games will always have a special place in my heart.

My mom loves all the popcap games. It is a tragedy that most of their games library is increasingly difficult to find, much less purchase. There is a huge demand for high quality casual games, but thanks to sail foams all we have is a dearth of garbage that only exists to steal thousands of dollars from whales.

Thank you PopCap for turning Plants vs. Zombies into a third person shooter. Garden Ops (Horde mode) was fun in bursts.

Is it bad I've never played PvZ? I was always more into Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled Twist. Still have them (and Peggle) installed on a dedicated WinXP gaming machine since, for some reason, the 3D acceleration and fancy graphics settings are broken on the Steam versions.

I have fond memories playing Insaniquarium on the school computers in middle school during lunch time.

I have fond memories playing Plants vs Zombies, Zuma Deluxe and Zuma Revenge on my PC when I have completed my work schedule.

Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled 2, and Bejeweled Twist were like my childhood. You used to be able to get the entire PopCap collection on Steam, though I think they got rid of that sometime in the last few years.

Peggle is just such a nice game to play with your brain off, I've put way to many hours into it while listening to podcasts.

Can we take a moment to admire the beauty of the soundtracks, too? They are so iconic that you will instantly remember them like 15 years after the last time you played them. Watery Graves is a classic and a masterpiece of video game composure, but my god I could listen to the Bejeweled soundtracks all day too.

Cool to know where those instruments came from too so that fans are able to make higher quality(?) renditions.
Also anything made by this guy is absolutely goated shit

Zuma is absolute king. PVZ2 couldve been a great game without the microtransactions. It was extremely mechanically solid, the plant roster was fucking amazing, the plant food system was really good and the MTX killed all of it. Also the bejeweled "Level Complete" voice recording was very good.
