So Ultra Violet is basically a hack of Fire Red but you can catch your own starter, all pokemon in FRLG are available *and I think all Gen 2/3 as well and a bunch of post game content. I've never played this myself so we're going on an adventure!

So, if you can catch your first Pokémon, does that mean that you have to beat it up yourself?
 
I do like the idea of getting to choose a Safari run instead of a starter, do you get kicked out as soon as you catch the first one? I'm assuming Koi picked Charmander for the first rival battle, I wonder if that's what he always pick if you choose a Safari starter.
 
Seems like an interesting hack. Are there adjustments make to the gyms and trainers based on the expanded dex?

No, it's like the Safari Zone
 
I actually quite like this ROMhack. One of the main motivations for the dev was to remove or add alternate options for all the shit put in for a two-version game with a social aspect. Evolve on trade pokemon like Gengar, Alakazam, and Steelix have been given alternate evolution methods, event legendaries you were unlikely to ever get in the pre-WiFi days are available. I forget the full list of changes, but thems the big ones that haven't been mentioned.

Look forward to seeing where you go with it. Despite thinking it's a good hack, I found Clover at the same time, and thus haven't really gotten far.

I think he got confused because Gen 3 for some reason makes Dratini purple, whereas it's blue in every other gen. Doesn't help the shiny color for Dratini is usually pink.
 
The main thing I remember about this hack is it came with a really in-depth strategy guide, with pictures and sidebars and everything.
