There wasn't a thread really dedicated to Pokemon Showdown (basically an online simulation where you can battle others without worrying about breeding/in-game bullshit), and decided to discard my remaining scraps of dignity to make this thread.

I guess post your teams/favorites, bitch about whatever cancerous shit you think is ruining the meta, or just muse about the good ol' days when Psychic was busted and only 150 (+1) of these things existed.
 
I used to really be into the competitive scene but my interest faded after a while. I used to participate in clan battles, which was fun. We played by Smogon rules but each clan had a type and they had to have at least 4 pokemon of each type on a team plus they could have two random pokemon on their team. This kind of ended up making it's own tiny metagame in the metagame
 
I like the other metagames, it helps liven up the battle systems, I feel.

I can also say that I'm not barraged with donation begging every time I open up the app, which is more than what I can say with YGOpro
 
I'm surprised nobody's talked about how toxic this game's community is. I've never seen people get so mad at a videogame in such a hilarious way. Seriously, some of these lolcows make DSP look bland by comparison. Here's some of the highlights

I went on a Showdown bent back in 2018 and holy shit does it bring out the worst in people. The only good players are the ones who don't say anything at all, not even GG. So many assholes get pissy and ragequit when you predict their switch, or judge you for running some RUs on your team in UU tier, gay shit like that. I kinda wish there was a version of Showdown where you can just play against computer players with custom teams.

It's very telling what kind of community your game attracts when multiple YouTubers have made channels dedicated to documenting salty Showdown players.

So it's a subset of competitive Pokemon for more autistic/salty players? Cause it sounds like that to me (without much context).

The only thing toxic about the community is how faggy the mods are. I got banned for exclaiming "gay" when an attack missed.

Shit talk is part of gaming. I like it when I dominate enough to get death threats and savage insults, I don't go report them. Maybe people should grow thicker skin.
 
It's fun but I wish it was possible to disable the chat/direct messages. The entire community is terrible. I don't want to talk to anyone there, ever. Go away.
 
Wish someone did a community watch thread on pokemon showdown because niggas there are autistic af.

There is so much whinning and abuse when something new and op is introduced. There's always the guys whinning about it being op and those that don't mind abusing the fuck out of the op technique.
It's crazy mega lucario,mega kangiskhan,pheromosa,baton pass or zygarde were Ou in the past.

The stall hate boner is also very autistic. Stall players are really pathetic because I don't understand how they have patience for +200 turns matches. But some guys just quit when facing stall because they hate it so much. Also stall vs stall is the worse thing in the world

I mean, I guess to some extent. To me, if you're sending death threats over a children's monster pet game, you need to learn how to act and should get banned for being a sore loser. But that's just me.

Smogon jannies are the fucking worst. There’s a shadowban system on Showdown but the mods constantly lie about its existence. If you ever call them out on this, you’ll get banned. There’s also the time a tranny janny got butthurt and deleted the “Showderp” chatroom because they hate 4chan even though they used to frequent Showderp themselves.

The current set of jannies fucking despises Showderp. Some code has been implemented that tracks users who follow the champ, and if there are too many flagged users in a battle, the chat will be disabled. That’s why someone had to create a client dedicated to Showderp.
