not to sound like a soycuck for putting time into this game but wow. pokemon go does really kind of suck when you need to sprint across the street and then loiter by buildings looking like a weirdo holding your phone up to pray for better gps triangulation just to get fucked up the ass with potion drops instead of pokeballs at pokestops man. at least i looked less actively like a retard or schizo when i didnt need to cross the street 5 times on one road and grind on the brick and mortar of a building designated as a pokestop to get items. and then they skip alola and go straight to galar pokemon, its like the dogshittiness of swsh infected it. got robbed of my dignity and of jangmo-o. :(

I dunno about that given that, besides Mystery dungeon, Masters as so far lasted more than a year.
I'd add in Ranger, but they just killed the poor series after three solid, screen destroying (lol) games. Sad.

But as for dead mobiles? Remember Pokémon Quest? Pokémon Duel?

How could I forget (especially Duel since I actually played that one til the end)? At least Masters actually ended their story mode.

There was also Pokemon rumble's mobile game that was JP only for some reason. The rumble games were a solid series that survived all the way from the Early Wii's life cycle into the late 3DS's life cycle before being seemingly abandoned like Ranger was along with the wierd puzzle game spinoff series "trozei" that also made it to the 3DS.

The only spin-offs I ever really got invested in were the Mystery Dungeon games. They had a fun take on Pokemon, and would be just as good (if not better in some respects) if they didn't keep using the "you used to be a human" gimmick.

Pokemon Conquest was also pretty fun, but my dumb ass didn't know how to make good team composition back then so I struggled with a lot of the post game challenges.

Mystery Dungeon's a great series, though I was really conflicted over some of the changes in Rescue Team DX. I haven't played Super Mystery Dungeon, but despite it being a more modern remake, DX felt like it took a chunk of the personality away, like the remakes of the Mario and Luigi games. The Ranger series was nice too when I first played it, but I guess I grew bored of the mechanic. Never played the Rumble series, or Conquest, but Trozei and Puzzle League were pretty fun, felt like those games had a lot of love put in them from the anime.

With home console spin-offs, I wish they'd make a new Battle Revolution though, that game was sick, same with a Colosseum/Gale of Darkness type game. And I liked Poke Park despite it being short. I really wish they'd make a modern Pokemon Channel/Hey You Pikachu type game, just a fun little electronic pet.

I feel like a lot of those, especially the Puzzle League and Channel games could be made into mobile ones, though I'm not sure they'd have the same quality or personality.

I haven't played Super Mystery Dungeon
A wise decision, honestly. You get in the game and get treated as a child, in other games sure they treated your team like noobs, but tbf, you were. Super mystery just sits you down at desks, to teach you the basics in pokemon school. You run around with small group of students and fuck around learning the basics for what felt far too long to me, before you can finally set out and make it to an explorers guild. It's been such a long time, it probably wasn't that bad, but I remember when I'd try to replay it I'd always quit before getting to the guild because it was a slog.

To make matters worse, instead of recruiting like normal there's a connection tree. You have to do missions and they'd unlock a connection you could use in rescues and branch off. There was one of each pokemon and they were the ones from previous games, but there was no wild recruiting or anything which really killed it for me.

I forgot to count the Genius Sonority games as full blown spin-offs, and they easily blow Mystery Dungeon out of the water for me in terms of my favorites. They always felt like an extension of Pokemon Stadium series to me, so I never really considered them as much a spin-off so much as extensions to their contemporary mainline games.

I actually didn't recall that Sonority made both those games, the Colosseum series and Battle Revolution, and that apparently they also made Trozei. Guess I'm a fan of their work. They also made that new Cafe Mix game, which I guess is sort of mobile Trozei, since it's a puzzle game? Has that game lasted more than a year?

I know Battle Revolution's just a battle sim, so you could just as easily play Showdown over it, but it was such a big deal when it came out that basically my whole family was fighting over who'd get to play it first, for some reason. I also really liked the ability to customize your trainer with weird clothes and accessories, that's my favorite feature of any Pokemon game.

I used to have Battle Revolution and customizing my trainer was all I ever did.

Genius Sonority did not make the Stadium games or Mystery Dungeon. The Stadiums were by HAL Laboratory and the Mystery Dungeons are by Spike Chunsoft.

Now that's a fucking hell of a crossover waiting to happen.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon itself is a crossover... Of Pokemon and Chunsoft's Mysterious Dungeon series. The first game ever released was a SNES title that was a spinoff of Dragon Quest IV staring Torneko Taloon, but over the years has been combined with other properties as well as some completely original titles(Shiren the Wanderer), The Pokemon crossover games however are the ones with the most exposure in the west.

In a similar vein, Pokemon Conquest was a crossover of Pokemon of the mostly Japan-only Nobunaga's Ambitions series(It was simply called Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambitions in Japan), and the more obvious one is Pokken Tournament being Pokemon and Tekken. And while Puzzle League for the N64 was a west-only asset flip of Panel de Pon 64, The GBC title(Pokemon Puzzle League Challenge) was actually released in Japan, and simply called Pokemon Panel de Pon over there(Also since it was intentionally made to be a Pokemon game from the start it was able to use many more Pokemon-like mechanics in it and was based off of the games, specifically Gold and Silver, rather than the anime).

Pokemon - Emerald Version (U).png

First *second Try!

Now that I've actually hunted for the bass myself, I'll never understand why this is in the "Pokémon Pantheon of Herculean Tasks."

People are impatient. It’s a tiny bit more annoying to find Feebas in Gen 4, but that’s all it is. Tedious.
(Also for the record Emerald is my favorite non-ROM hack Pokémon game.)

Was thinking about this the other day, but the plot of Black/White 1 could be seen as a metaphor for gun control. What was Team Plasma's plan? Make everyone give up their Pokemon (who in their own right are basically living weapons) under the guise of making peace when really it was to horde all the mons for themselves and leave the populace powerless to stop them afterwards.

And go figure, the region is based on the US.

If Plasma were seemingly commies in BW, then shit, they looked full-on nazbol in BW2. That aside...

In the same case, Platinum is mine, and I get the same exploratory feelings from those games as I am now feeling playing through Hoenn. In fact, the water is non-issue; so much of the region is opened up once you get Surf (as is the case with any Pokémon game), but with RSE in particular... Let's just say I can understand the villainous teams' autistic goals. There is a lot the game offers on land and sea.
