I mean, Diamond and Pearl are really just mediocre. Compared to the rest of the series X and Y stand out as probably the worst outside of Red and Green.
 
The Pokemon company burned me one too many times for me to be excited. I have a slightly more favorable outlook on them being good thanks to the different company, but man, I still ain't over the past few years.

The flaws of the DPP are apparent when compared to the later entries and I interpret the faithfulness being in terms of style to the original (hence the chibi models). The way I see it, there aren't many ways that they can screw the pooch on this one.

Yeah, I'm just keeping in mind we've seen like... two minutes of footage? Most of it being the chibis toddling around. We really have no idea how 'faithful' it'll be mechanically. But with how hard they've been trying to steer away from HMs recently, I feel like going back to when HMs were at their worst without doing something about that... just wouldn't make sense.

It looks like the Underground is still there, which is definitely interesting.

Don't remind me. They removed the slot machines because of "muh gambling", which was fucking retarded for the time. And now is even dumber now that every non-Nintendo game marketed towards kids has real money gambling out the ass.

Is it weird that I don't mind the chibi models for NPCs, but the MC models bother me? Maybe its something about the camera. Maybe its my burned in memories of starring at the old ones for hours as a kid.

I got into Gen IV late so the Underground was pretty much dead by the time I went through Sinnoh on my own. It was apparently really fun when fully utilized from what I've heard, so I hope I can experience that at least once.

Tbh, I think people were more mad that Battle Frontier didn't make it. Maison is such a terrible post-game that I wonder why they even bothered, aside from the fact that Kalos had it and they just wanted to recycle content.

Based on Japanese press materials, Legends has an active time battle system, climbing, gliding, and boss battles. You can sneak up on Pokémon to catch them without going into battle. If you get attacked the trainer itself can get hurt, forcing you to flee. Pokémon sizes are apparently scaled properly now.

There is no multiplayer.

The DP remakes have the Shaymin NPC from platinum in the trailer, so I guess that event is still in. Porygon Z was also in the trailer, so it’s probably using the platinum dex.

See that's the thing with the D/P and to an equal but lesser extent with B/W/2, they'd only just really started adding online stuff when they started so the underground was 100% offline.

I'm wondering if they'll do anything online with it this time. Maybe a friend codey invite thing?

...I just want to actually have more than one other person to have fall into my pit traps is all.

It's best to keep in mind that that was presentation footage. While GF isn't known for their coding prowess, they still have a year to touch up and polish things.

Yeah I think the 10 fps pokemon must have been due to fucking up some Level of Detail code or some shit, which on the brightside shows that they are at least starting to learn how to optimize some things
 
I feel like I am the only one not bothered by the DP remakes graphics or style, except maybe the proportions of the human models looking a bit dumb. There are hints about content from platinum being there so it gives me a bit more of hope about this not being closer to an ORAS situation (where they outright scrapped content). Here is hoping they don't streamline the shit out of caves/routes and also hoping to see some new content. Still I am cautiously optimistic about this one
As for pokemon breath of the wild, it is gamefreak so I am expecting them to fuck this one up one way or another, namely in the performance department. So not as optimistic here.
At least now we know that TPC and friends are more open to giving the franchise to other devs who will make more than phone games. Yeah I am aware they used to have spinoffs often back in the gamecube/GBA and DS era, but kinda slowed down for the wii era and were reallt absent during the WiiU era (the only spinoff of note I can think of is pokken) and the 3ds got the rumble games, trozei and two PMD games, the rest being all phone games (duel, go, magikarp jump).

SwSh didn't have a whole year (and more in 2022) worth of development time left to get fixed up when it was announced. I'm keeping my expectations low for Legends, but I'm going to give them benefit of the doubt and hope that with more time on their hands they can give it some much needed polish.

I expect it to get delayed to mid to late 2022. This is their most ambitious project yet and I'm sure they realize people won't be happy if it's half-assed as opposed to just another mid generation.
